Default Hints for inspecting my pachinko?

Hello again all! Well I pick up my new toy tomorrow, and I've been reading threads in the forum about bending nails, and condition of machines when you get them, and I was wondering....

Could any kind soul give me some pointers about what to do / what not to do with my new toy, esp. at first?

E.g., I figure I need to be sure to clean all the balls before use.

Is there any type of "four point inspection" you gents use on machines when you get them? I figure I can eyeball the most obvious stuff (e.g. cleaning the outside, making sure door opens / key works, etc.) but I'm scared to death I'm going to hurt the baby!!

What are some things less obvious things I might want to check?

    Well, thanks for any insight!

First make sure that all the connectors are well seated. Study the back of the unit to familiarize yourself with it. Once the balls are clean, fill the top hopper up and watch how the balls move thoughout the machine to gain an understanding of the flow of the mechanical side of the game.

Once you have the hopper loaded. Put some balls in the front tray and plug in the machine. If no errors occur at this time, turn the knob to shoot some balls. If nothing appears to happen, you might need a dongle that has probably fallen off. It should be in the box if so. This dongle plugs into the 25 pin connector on the back. Try the knob again and watch the balls shoot. Learn to feel the pressure of the shooter knob in your hand and adjust your turn pressure according to where you want the balls to land.

Once you've done all this, fill the front tray with balls and have a great time!
    Meanwhile, somewhere in Oklahoma.

Question..... The dongle which you so carefully refer to .
Do all suppliers include it with the order.
Does any technical person know what it does?
I was once told that if you payout the jackpot and you haven't filled the balls it is a manufacturer reset only to get it repaired.
Is this an Urban pachinko legend?

    Thanks!

just poor in more balls, you don't have to rset if you run out of balls

the dongle is the Card Reader by pass plug, needed on machines to be able to shoot balls

Thanks, can the dongle be swapped between machines or is each one different?

The dongle is the same for all machines, there was a post about how to make one somewhere on the board.

I had a look at your link, cool collection!

I can't find a link to a diagram but will keep looking unless anybody knows where it is?

    Thanks

nethippy (where'd he go???) described the dongle very well in this thread:
    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2547

Unfortunately, the pic link is dead.
But he gave pin by pin description, as well as a parts list.

I found the thread with a search for "dongle".
