    Default My ~1969 Nishijin "Rehabilitation"

I don't want to call it a "restoration", because I'm not going to be removing every part, or replacing the play-field graphic/image.

But I am doing a pretty deep clean-up, some partial disassembly, and as-needed repair along the way.

This is my first pachinko machine, but I've owned pinball machines, video arcade games, and a jukebox for some time, so it's sort of "adjacent". See my recent post in the "introductions" section for a little more background about how I got it.

So without further ado, time for the pachinko pr0n... front and back photos of the machine pretty much as I got it are attached.

I took the frame off for some steel-wool treatment and a little chrome paint touch-up where the original chrome was gone.
Attached is a picture of it after a first-pass of cleaning the playfield, and part-way though some nailhead polishing.

Looking at the white plastic piece that was the original ramp for (single) balls inserted to go to the shooter, it looks like it was clearly used as a single-shot before being converted--rather than being converted at the factory before sale.

I couldn't get the dark green plastic cover surrounding the shooter handle off without damaging it. The screws were rusted so badly, even after removing the head one wouldn't budge. So I bought a small bundle of off of eBay that included that part, and replace my damaged one.

As I was re-assembling the front, I starting looking at the little squarish sticker. Mine was faded totally to nothing. I searched some eBay photos, and found an example of what it should look like, and printed a replacement on an address label:

Is it just me, or did those photos in post #4 not work right, and end up just being huge hunks of text?

No, not just you, something went wrong, perhaps a mod can get it all sorted out.

Thank you. I'll try the post with pictures again, and see if I can get it right this time...
