Would you consider pachinko as a form of pinball
Considering that not only do both games come from the same ancestor bagatelle, but older Japanese-English dictionaries had a tendency to describe in the translation entry for the word pachinko as "vertical pinball", I'm wondering what other players here think? Since so many handheld toys deescribe themselves as pinball but have no flippers, just the plunger, wouldn't at least old style vintage maual operated pachinko count as pinball since the gameplay is based on how much pressure you put on the flipper lever control and knowing how exactly to hold and release the lever just much like how pinball uses the plunger? In addition an American who works in Japan told me he otypically tells Western tourist that pachino if Japanese style pinball so they can get an idea of the game in seconds and he can get them straight ot the point of convincing them to visit parlors and gambling dens. So wondering what you all think?
