    Default King Of King Pulsar

    Hi there Guys!

I'm Scott from the UK! First post here...

I have a King Of King pulsar machine that is currently faulty. It was working a few weeks ago but recently started blowing the fuses on the 240-110v transformer. I replaced them a few times but it kept happening. Now nothing happens at all. The transformer appears to giving the correct voltage out when tested with a multimeter. I don't have any other knowledge of these machines but I feel like perhaps the power supply has died? Does anyone know how to test this or where in the UK it might be possible to get spare parts from?

    Kind Regards

First thing I would do is, unplug everything from the PSU in the cabinet (ie where the power goes in) then see if it still blows a fuse. Out of Interest. what 240-110 transformer are you using.

    Thanks for replying!

Actually now I remember the last time I tried it the PSU made a pop and spark and after that it no longer blew the transformer fuses or did anything at all...I assume that was the PSU blowing?

I've attached a picture of the transformer to the original post.

    Thanks

Yep. I have 3 of those transformers myself. So I wouldn't see a problem with power rating. I suspect as you say something has blown in the internal power supply. Can you post a pic of it including all of the additional sockets it has. It might be worth having a look inside and seeing if any capacitors have blown. But it might be time to source a new one.

Thanks again for the swift reply...

I've removed the power supply and opened it up to see if there is anything untoward. I noticed the internal fuse had blown (it was a 120v 8a) so I will replace that with a 240v 8a fuse. I couldn't see anything suspicious and everything looked like new, although I'm no expert.

I've attached some close up internal shots of the PSU.

    Regards

I love your photos and is that the guts of the internal power supply? And your putting 100 v AC in that power supply and getting out 24 v AC and other voltages for other parts of the machine .

This slot takes a 100v input. I've already checked the spec against other machines listed in Japan. I did see a PSU on YJA but its in a lot of 3.

I would unplug everything from the psu and still see if it blows. If anything is likely to blow the transformer fuse it would be the main power supply.

So I've ordered a new transformer which will arrive today so hopefully we can at least rule that out. Then I'll try as you suggested and unplug everything and turn the machine on and work my way through each component. I will post the results.

    Thanks

Ok so this is the update after the new transformer....

    1) I fitted new fuses and tried the new transformer with the machine as standard, this blew the PSU fuse.

    2) I replaced the PSU fuse, removed the PSU from the machine and unplugged all wires, then attempted to turn on the PSU. This also blew the PSU fuse.

So from this information one would assume the PSU is kaput?

@Drinkenclam did you say you found somewhere with these PSUs in stock?

    Thanks

well in Japan yes. I don't have any parcels coming over at the moment, so if you can't find one here. Its an option. although you will need to use a deputy buying service.

also Yahoo Japan. block their sites from Europe and the UK as they didn't want to meet EU data collection laws.

    Thanks for those links!

Although looking at the first one that appears to be the wrong PSU.

I've attached some images of my exact PSU here...hope it helps!

    Thanks again!

My power supply is currently with a repair company and they found the problem straight away. Repair cost is around £25.

I watched him remove it...it was one of those varistors? Transient surge absorber things. He'd of fixed it on the spot if he had the right replacement. I'll take a picture of the replacement when I collect it this week.

All fixed now and up and running!

I just need some tokens for it now as this is my first machine. Can anyone recommend anywhere to get these from in the UK? Or are there any members here selling small amounts?

    Thanks again

Not the easist thing to come by in the UK. There are 2 lots on ebay at the moment. a lot of 175 and a lot of 200. hey are probably the best value at the moment.

If you want a couple of thousand. Your probably better off getting them in Japan and havin them shipped on the slow boat.
