Not if I can't figure out my electronics.. if I have to use some one else design I have a moral choice to make.. if I pay them and in corporate it.. that's ok..

I do not think there is a large market but maybe I can kit it out and just be a middle man..

We will see.. first things first.. make a working proto type..

I did have some luck last night breadboarding a 817 opto and may have a solution.. I'm drawing it up now and will solder board a few tests but It looks promising

Ya did that one time... never again.. sat down and watched TV with 5000 balls and a caliper to get them out of my enviroment...

I use those now for marbel runs for the grandkids

Planed test... and keep in mind this is all pretty basic stuff that I should have pieced together a week ago but...

Sleep does wonders to sort the mind

This would be one of 7 dupilcates.. and I may try to get 8 sensors into the design as long as I can fit it on my printbead I'm limited to size unless I eat to make the box in 2 pieces..

Also keep in mind a higher quality 3d print takes over 40 hours... just for the ramp box.. the sensor holder another 15 and then time to insert the brass inserts for the machine screws..

Well it worked.. then the magic blue smoke leaked out....

Building a new one with a dit more spacing and cleaned my desk of all the metal bits....

I did push 7000 balls through it and got accurate counts so proff of performance tested before burning it up...

V2.0 is up and running.. let's see how long I can keep the blue smoke in..

Looks nice! I'm curious on the source of the blue smoke: Program running at full speed without any cooling on the chip? Or a component that died due to overcurrent/overvoltage?

i am able to apply the 12v to the sensor and read back the output as 6.5v no ball and 10.8 with a ball present changing the external resistor has little change to the over all voltage so i can not directly feed that into an Arduino or esp32

normally one would use a voltage divider to get the voltage into range but that does not work in this case as you can see in the part schematic that that is how they get the voltage as the output

I have tried the screen clips of the video but had no luck with that as well. i was also thinking that an optocoupler would work but i can not seem to make that do it as well

so the primary goal is to translate that 6.5 to 10.8 to a logic level of 0v to 5v or 0v to 3.3v or a high / low signal for the micro to process

I was thinking that these parts are used in the machines already and their primary use is for pachinko ball detection, that there must be a schematic of a machine that uses these 2 wire items and the surround circuit might glean the interface method used in the machines.

or for that mater maybe some one has already figured out the interface for the sense or SBC and could share.

I know you may not want to back up at this point, but this also solves your original problem of dc conversion Check this out! https://a.co/d/gFoLUN8

To much junk on the work bench and shorted the pcb on a stray piece of wire lead..

    Totally on me..

Look what I got... this is the version from Japan, I'm glad mine was working before I got this one..

Turns out we are on the same track. Abit he uses a pict vs a dev device board, but I was thinking about using a bare arduino chip in the next rev..

Guess there are only so many ways to interface

Funny enough. I'm using an arduino nano to run the signals on my model railway. Although using hall effect sensors rather than photo reflective or ball sensors. OK completely different. With a row of sensor inputs with led outputs.

Cool... ya I'm likely going to go to the raw chip. It's just a couple of resistors and a xtal to get it running its 5v tolerant and will be way cheaper. I have a stand alone programer for it so it should work well..

Time will tell.. cost me about 130 plus 25 to ship the Japan board. But at least I made mine work before i got his in..

It's cheap to have as validation that I'm on the right track

Boards came in today... I have one mistake that I have to sort the Rev w boards...

That is the reason for the wire jumpers.. power and ground are reversed on the pads for the display.

Haha. Been there, done that. Yes. It's a bummer when that happens. After checking everything through twice. A little mistake creeps in. At least its an easy fixaround.
