    Default Help with research Pachinko

    Hello,

I am currently busy with researching the history of pachinko machines for a video I'm working on, but i have some trouble with a few phrases and mechanics that are being thrown around in some of the articles that i found.

And instead of making 100 different posts here asking questions, i was wondering if i could maybe have a nice chat with one of the members here that has a little bit more knowledge of the subject than i do.

If anyone is open to it, id love to have a talk about it on discord or something like that

I guess the terminology differs from vintage to modern. I might be easier to just ask here in this thread. Others would find it useful too.

Ok i guess i can do that as well

These are some questions that i have at this point

    1. Around 1954 there was a prohibition on renpatsu-shiki type pachinko machines, what is the major difference between this multi shot renpatsu-shiki machines and single shot machines

    2. IN 1960 the tulip variant showed up, How was this variant different than the ones before?

    3. Pachislot to my knowledge don't seem to share any similarity to pachinko machines, yet are mentioned in a lot of articles telling about the history of pachinko, What connection do the 2 have?

    To answer your questions:

    1. You kinda answered your own question; rapid fire machines were outlawed a few years; single shot as the name implies mean you have to manually load and launch each ball separately. Obviously you can fire (and lose a lot more money more quickly the faster you shoot )

    2. Tulips didn’t exist before then; only winning pockets.

    3. Pachislo came along in the 80’s; there’s no direct connection besides they are often housed in the same parlor; similar themes. Just something different to make money off of those that want a machine with less skill required. (More popular with younger players.)

So to give myself a clearer picture

    1. Did rapid fire immediately put the winning balls back into the machine? or was there another mechanism that did that?

    2. and tulips were like mechanisms that put a twist on balls falling into just winning pockets, in their case needing to hit the same spot twice?

    Is this correct?

They just payout balls to the front tray; like a 1970’s-modern era pachinko. Single shots payout to just the lower winning ball tray (but you load the balls manually of course). It takes much longer to play through 100 balls or so which you could easily shoot in 1 minute with a rapid fire auto loading pachinko. It’s like comparing a M16 rifle to a black powder muzzle loading gun. Way more damage potential…

Yeah; tulips give extra scoring potential by a wide margin; also the perfect target to aim for. They were game changing. On my newer Showa Story (all 10 payouts)scoring in the center feature opens either 1 side tulip or the 3 center tulips, the tulip(s) opens with first ball (10 ball payout), then you shoot two balls into each tulip for it to close (10+10+10= 30 ball payout for right or left side)

(10+10+10+10+10+10+10= 70 ball payout for opening the center 3 tulips)

Most vintages have standard tulips that take one ball to open, one to close it.

Then there’s Powerflash machines and the Sanyo Diasangen which add a whole different element of “joker” tulips that MUST BE AVOIDED or the fun is all over!

一般電役Thank you all for the response it has helped me quite a bit.

I also have a question about the 4 types of pachinko

I understood that type 1 is DigiPachi, type 2 is HaneMono and type 3 is Kenri Mono.

And while i understand what makes a digipachi machine, i am still quite confused about the other 3 especially the 4th one where i dont even know the name of it.

Does this ring a bell to any of you all?

Edit: it seems like the 4th type is called
Ippanden'yaku sadly, i still cant find much information about that type of machine

There’s actually more types than that!

There’s also, “standard play” that play like a vintage. No electronic reels, or moving arms like a hanemono. Hanemono type have moving arms that you must activate via scoring in pockets to allow balls into the center feature; skill based; not as luck based as digipachi. Kenrimono means”rights based” you must earn the “right” to progress to the next step; so there’s usually 3 or more things that need to happen before you get a fever. Ipatsudai “one shot” machines only need one ball in theory to win the Fever, more skill based than digipachi; good aim is required like a hanemono or kenrimono. There’s no lcd screen or moving arms usually.

Also; digihane which is newer; a combination of type 1 and 2 digipachi and hanemono.

Not to mention arepachi; but those are extinct in the wild for at least 15 years now…

The book “Winning pachinko” describes them all in good detail in English .

    Hanemono:

    Kenrimono:

    Standard play:

    Digipachi:

    Arepachi:

    Digihane:

Be careful though, I've noticed in the Japanese market the term "digihane" seems to now also refer to digipachi that just have good odds (like 1/99 or better), since hanemono are perceived as having better odds but lower jackpots.

Real digihane have mechanical elements like a hanemono or kenrimono not just an LCD screen.

Once you know what to look for it’s easy to tell them apart.
