I am able to measure the voltage outputs going to the hopper motor.

Every time I do a token payout, there is between 9V to 11.5V every time there is a payout.

It appears that 9 times out of ten, the first coin to eject doesn’t eject at all but rather stops at mid way through the exit and errors out E3. The optical hand going through the sensor is breaking the beam when it errors to E3.

I am now assuming that the power distribution through the IC board is fine.

This may be a sensor issue but you are the expert. Let me know your thoughts.

Any other ideas to assist with this E3 error?

Not sure. If a sensor isn't working at all. It either throws up an error straight away. Or spits out about 20 tokens before error. Maybe the output is not correct any more.

If you can get a sensor cheap. I would just change it to be safe.

Sounds to me like you have power. Have you tried just running 12 volts DC to the hopper motor with coins in it to confirm it's not a mechanical issue? Just disconnect the motor wire to the board and put 12 volts to the motor. It should run smooth and spit out tokens until you cut the power. Obviously do this with the hopper removed from the machine.

Yea, I applied an external power source to the hopper and it turns perfectly and dispenses tokens no problem.
