So I may have screwed up. Here's the rundown. I picked up the Altronix T24280300 step down transformer.
    Input
    115VAC 50/60 Hz, 2.7A.
    Output
    24VAC/300VA (14A)

Based on previous feedback, I think this was a good option. The output voltage is registering 25.6 VAC. I fear that may have been too much.

When I plugged it up and turned it on it blew thew new fuse and fried the resistor next to fuse. So now I have to replace a resistor that I'm not sure what it was rated.

Anyone out there able to provide some feedback on this model and what size resistor was used, if the power supply supply I bought is the right type, and anything else I should know to bring power to this unit.

Should be fine with that voltage. It's in the 10% range.

Looks like a diode blew. Maybe surge protection.
I forget what happened to the original fuse and where did the machine come from?

I took a chance and bought it cheap from a soldier being deployed to Hawaii. He had never turned it on. The original fuse was blown. It was a 125V, 15A fuse and that's what I replaced it with.

How do I determine what type of diode it was?

I hope you only tapped the output of only One of the Two Transformers in that power supply box .

I solider a inline fuse on my transformer output to protect the machine from a over voltage runaway transformer.

And over amperage from the transformer.

What size (Amperage) fuse did you use in-line from the transformer?

Any suggestions on determining the size of diode I need to replace?

The model I picked up only had one transformer.

Let's approach this from another angle. Does anyone have a modern Kyoraku pachinko made in the mid 2010's that can send a picture of the circuit board the power supply plugs into to help determine the diode size I need to replace?

Default Power supply for Kinnikuman Pachinko

That’s not the most common frame; however I do know a guy that’s semi local to me; who has 2 of that same frame but with AKB48 cells in them; I’d assume it’s the same power supply board. I’m sure you can find him on the North American pachinko club FB group if you search for posts about “AKB48”

He’s got at least a couple “bad” AKB48 cells with animatronic issues; so who knows he might even part one out for that board or sell you an entire new frame? Can’t hurt to ask…

That’s the guy! I’m sure he can get you a decent picture at least. Might be easier to get a replacement power board though if possible since there’s that hole burned into it instead of repairing it?

Does anyone have any idea what size fuse should have been on the board the power supply connects to?

Probably a 10A or 12A to match the machines VA rating
The max rating I have seen for a standard 5x20 cartridge fuse is 160A but it wouldn't be that.

With so many threads about this problem, it might be time to start a dedicated section or sticky about “so you’ve plugged a pachinko directly into a wall outlet…” or “I bought a cheap fixer upper fried modern pachinko”

Just checked my AKB48. Where that fuse is. Mine is rated at 15A

I'm all for it. Who's in charge of the stickies? I'm sure there is no shortage of people looking for help with the electronics on their modern machines? Anyone know a good electrical engineer?

MrGneinss is an admin I do believe, and there’s a few others. It’s a very common problem unfortunately, tons of similar posts about it, since practically no other electrical device runs off 24v in the US and yet has standard 2 prong plugs.

There’s multiple threads about it, it’s not a lost cause though as many have rescued them from being toasted, but on the other hand there’s no guarantees it will be fixable.

I’m paranoid of this issue in my own home and tell everyone do NOT plug in any machines without consulting me first… Since some do not have a hard wired 24v transformer but rely on a separate transformer.
