    Default Volume control review

I bought a Julie pachinko a couple of months ago and like everyone found it was way too loud. I bought the small circuit board style volume controls that go inline with each speaker. I bought them from eBay and received a package of six. I only needed two. After the install I discovered I needed to rotate them almost all the way clockwise to get any volume. Once there the sweet spot was extremely small. I struggled to get a reasonable level. It wanted to be either off or full volume. I used this setup for a month without any other problems.

I wanted more control so I purchased the L-pad shown in the picture. Installing it was more involved than the small circuit board? style. I had to run six wires from the front of the machine by the speakers to the back where I mounted the L-pad. Finding a hole for the wires was a big challenge. I ran 18 gauge wire since that’s what I had. Next time I’ll buy 20 or 22 gauge. Once installed I had much better control than before. The range from off to full is very linear although my preferred adjustment is about a quarter knob from off. My first impression is that the sound is crisper than before and controllable from quiet to way too loud. It’s also nice to adjust it without opened the front.
