Default Model A, That I couldn't pass up.

Looking through Facebook Marketplace, I came across this machine.

An older Model A for $20 and only about 1/2 hour away from home. The listing only showed the front of the machine and stated that the machine worked, but the ball return didn't work. Wasn't really sure what that really meant ,but for $20, I couldn't pass it up.

Once I got there to look at it, I could see that the when the jackpot tilted to dump the balls into the ramp that directs the balls to the shooter tray, the ramp wasn't pivoting freely, due to rust on the nail. So, that would be an easy fix. Only thing missing was a cover. So, I paid the $20 and loaded it up and the seller said "wait, I have a box of balls, also". It was a small flat rate box from the post office, that was shipped from Ebay. Inside was package of 500 silver balls and a package of 300 gold balls, both unopened.

I got the machine and 800 new balls for $20, needless to say I was pretty happy.

I don't know what to do with it, but I'll tear it down and clean it up. I'm sure it will get some kind of a custom playfield.

I'd say you got a fantastic deal on that machine, looks to be pretty clean as well.

Nice score! The balls alone are more than worth the cost.

I got a little bit done on the machine. Everything off the back and front of the playfield and laid out on the tables.

The playfield removed from the frame and the old playfield removed and the new playfield put on. I decided to use some "steampunk" wrapping paper for the new playfield.

I should get the playfield pieces cleaned and touch up whatever needs painted. Nails cleaned and polished and everything back on the playfield tomorrow.

I think I'm going to incorporate some LED's into the playfield also.

Wayne do you have a plan for the missing cover on the right rear?

If you don't, (which seems unlikely) and are interested in something to cover the payoff area up, I have a 3D printed version of that cover and I found a filament online than closely matches the light blue color.

Looks like you are missing the "Clear" part to the left that latches into the orange cover also.
I'd be happy to send you the parts for free to see if they work for you and are of sufficient quality to be used on one of your machines

I am missing the cover, but that is not the style of cover I'm needing.

I haven't given much thought in what I'm going to do about the missing cover. But, probably will try making something.

I really appreciate the offer though. Here is a picture of the style I need.

Got the playfield put back together and put back into the door frame. The whole front of the machine is pretty much done.

The original lighting consisted of 2 lights, one lit the center feature on winning balls and the other lit the light in the upper left of the playfield for hopper empty. When I'm done there will be over 20 lights.

Here are some pictures and video of the lights I have installed, so far.

I looked at all 6 of my recyclers...they must not be old enough as they all have a similar cover, but none of them look like yours with the bell covered. I could probably tweak my existing design and come up with something if you decide there are no other good alternatives.

That looks great, I don't know how you can do such fantastic work so quickly. I'm a month in on my Maruhon and still have about a week to go and I'm not even replacing the playfield.

The cover doesn't cover the bell, on this model. The payout bell is located in the center, at the bottom of the pivoting payout ramp.

Thanks again for your interest, I'm sure I can come up with something.
