    Default My First Pachinko

    Hi All,

Never knew what a Pachinko machine was until about a week ago.

I have a friend who came back to Australia from Japan to clear out his house to sell it and was getting rid of his belongings. I saw the Pachinko and he gave it to me to keep. I believe it was his grandfather's and is a bit of a rough condition I guess but still works from what I can tell. I assume there is something missing in the middle of the machine where the green piece of paper is?

Is anyone able to shed some light on the year of manufacture, who the manufacturer is etc. or can point me in the right direction to do my own research?

    Thanks in advance!Pachinko Tag.jpgPachinko Rear.jpgPachinko Front.jpg

Welcome to Pachitalk! What a FANTASTIC first machine! I would guess early "50s due to almost total lack of plastic. It has a Masmura gauge...indicating that is not from the '40s.
Beautiful original condition! Other than clean it...the only thing I would do is ...straighten the nails! Once you buff the patina off...its gone for the next 50 years! "it's only original once!"

I agree with Pachiwall. This machine is in really nice original condition. I would just clean any dirt off of it and maybe polish the wood with a wood polish. I would Leave everything else as is. If you don't have any balls you will need them for the machine to work properly. Have you tested it to see if all the mechanisms are funtional?

    Thank you!

Yes, I have a heap of balls. Seems to work fine from the limited knowledge I have. When you do get a ball into the desired areas the balls get stored at the back of the machine. I'm not sure at what stage the machine 'pays out'?

I am not 100% certain of this but the machine should pay out pretty much immediately. I have never worked on a machine this old. When the ball goes into a pocket can you see it hit the big lever on the back?

Hopefully this photo is bigger. I think I've worked out the payout balls get manually loaded at the top of the machine in the green box area and the played balls that end up winning trigger the payout balls and end up in the red box area. From my looking at it, a winning ball should hit the lever in the red box:

    Lever.jpg

That lever should then cause the jackpot holder (the red box in the next image) to dump 10 (judging from the 10s on all the pockets on the front) balls that should then follow the path (red arrows) to the front tray:

    dump and Path.jpg

The winning ball MAY follow the path that you describe but it may also go to the tray on the front of the machine. The path that you point out looks to me like the path of losing balls. You will want to put a catch bin under that.

That being said it is entirely possible that the willing ball also winds up in the back of the machine like this:

    Possible Paths.jpg

Have you tried putting a bunch of balls in the hopper at the top and then dropping balls into the pockets to see what happens? Also can you open the glass on the front of the machine so you can touch the nails?
