    Default Leaf switches

Hello again. Does anyone know where I can purchase new leaf switches for payout, low balls and such. So far all lever type switches I find are to harsh to work properly. thanks in advance.

Ditto. All the available microswitches I've been able to find are too stiff.

Maybe the lever arm could be lengthened and the switch itself be positioned further away to accommodate?

I've actually created some 3D replacement housings for leaf switches. The .stl file prints 6 different styles.

I am making them. Tell me what design you want and I'll set you up.

Here are some pics destined for A future how too thread. But I'll make them for anybody that wants them...ill post a more comprehensive breakdown of the various styles and uses, and then make up the 3D drawings to address them. I have enough copper now to make hundreds if not thousands....lol

Here is one I made and used on my Maruhon. I've been playing it and it seems to be working fine. Was even able to use the existing holes and nails to attach it.

What brand machine are you working on? Let's see if I might have one to model amongst my machines.

Yes. Sorry I was just looking at your other post and saw the machine. (that I actually commented on) but didn't notice the username was the same.

Anyway yes, I have multiple Sankyos I can refer to. I'll post a pic of my copy of the switch later today and see what you think.

I posted the wrong back. I edited my post above. The one I'm restoring first is the Nishijin Model B

No problem. I've already made the two Nishijin switch housings. Just need to make the contacts and assemble them.

I normally make them. They are pretty easy to do.

For the DIY'ers, this is how I do it.

For the housing, I use those plastic wall anchors for wire shelfing. With a razor knife, I cut off the screw cover and the plastic wall stud on the back. With the razor knife, I cut 2 slits in the housing for the metal strips to slide into. The metal strips are cut to 3/16 inches wide and to what ever length you need. I cut them from metal roof flashing.

On one end of the metal strips, I bend a small circle, for the wire to fit into. The bottom leg, I bend so that when the top leg touches it, it has 3/4 inch contact area. Rather than just the ends touching.

With the metal strips slide into the housing and positioned, I use the tip of the soldering gun and melt the plastic slits to securely hold them. Insert the wires into the bent circles and solder.

the one thing i add when I'm rebuilding them is, i fire the hot glue gun up and fill/seal the solder points in glue so the wires don't pull out

I finally produced several sets of Nishijin leaf switch sets.

I'm looking at making some Model A switches that are similar but different soon, as well as some more generic switch versions for the older/lesser well known machines like Maruhon's, Kyoraku, etc.
As I reviewed my machines I see a lot of variations, so if someone needs a specific style of switch let me know and I'll see if I can generate some thing for you.

Finished printing a dozen of both payout and low ball switch housings for Model A's. Will add copper leaves and wires soon.
I'll be checking the C model when I pull it out of the attic and see what kind of switches are on it.

I know these are relatively easy to make, but as someone who has built a few arcade machines, I've fallen in love with the micro leaf switches from Groovy Game Gear. These are easy to mount in Happ style buttons and take barely any pressure with only a faint click.

They also make a leaf switch with a button adapter. I haven't used these yet but people seem to love them.

Then there's Marco Specialties in Lexington. They're kind of the sweethearts of the pinball community for parts. They have a ton of different switches available and fantastic service.
