Default Sticking reel problem on Thunder V

    Can anybody help please.

I have an intermittant problem with the center reel on my Thunder V (1998) machine. It sticks, then it turns, then hesitates. Eventually it speeds up to normal speed and the skill stop buttons light. Most times it will turn Ok. The reel motors are not noisy and the reel does not sound as if it is rubbing. I am not sure if the problem is electronic or mechanical. I have not attempted any repair or cleaning yet. The machine I have just bought without any warranty for spares or repair. I am in the UK and we have little support here.
    Any advice please.

    Many thanks

    Roger

If you are noticing that the machine works fine except for this occasional hesitation, it most likely is just the reels recalibrating themselves. Personally, if everything else works right I wouldn't worry about it.

    Many thanks for your replies.

The problem occurs every 20 or 30 plays and strangely whenever I add 50 tokens. It may be the reels recalibrating but it is only the center reel. It can take up to a minute for it to clear and run correctly. When the play lever is activated sometimes it does not move at all then judders several times, then spins, then hesitates and eventually reaches correct speed. It is as if the signal to the stepper motor is intermittant. Could it be a problem with the reel position sensor?

Many thanks for a great Pachi Web site

you could try unpluging your electrical connectors on each reel and on the board they go to and then plug them back it.

it may just be a poor connection.

    That doesn't sound like recalibration.
Check your connections like Lucky said, Then I would check to see if the screw holding the reel on is tight, it might be slipping.

If it is hesitating that long, I'd think you DO have a problem. Take a look at these threads. They might offer some ideas:

Many Thanks Everybody For The Suggestions.

I have removed the reel assembly and cleaned the motors and reels. (I do not know what they smoke in the Pachi Parlors but most of it must have been in this machine!!). I put a single drop of silicon oil in the spindle end of each motor (I do not know whether you should lub any other areas of the motors?) I unplugged each connector and could find no loose wires or signs of corrosion.

The sticking now seems to be a lot less of a problem. The reel spins a lot more freely but now only hesitates about every 100 spins. So I shall keep on playing and see what happens. The only other problem I have now found when I had a bonus is that part of the LED head display does light.

    Once again many thanks
