I didn’t have the same problem with my machine, but I did have to trace out where power was going to and coming from. Is the board getting AC power or does it get DC power? In other words does the board have a voltage regulator/converter from AC to DC built into it? Or is the voltage regulator/converter elsewhere in the machine? I would think that maybe the wrong transformer could have damaged regulator/converter. Just a guess. My machine mainly had bad connectors and one bad wire harness, plus a few bad solder joints I had to redo, but the main problem and the first one I solved was no power to the shooter motor due to a bad connector, but it took some time to trace that all out to see where power was coming from and where it stopped being received.

Like I said, I'm not much with electronics. I'm hoping one of our electronics gurus will chime in.
My only thought is to see where power enters the board and where it's stopping at. It probably comes in as AC, goes through a rectifier to convert to DC.
One thing you could test is whether that eprom is getting power. Looks like ground is pin 14 and power is pin 28. You get pinouts for any other chips at least test for power.

    Update:

I noticed that the main chip wasn't seated correctly. I removed it, lightly sanded the contacts and reseated it after spraying some contact cleaner. After it dried, I powered it on and had lights. Then the wings (the meat on bones) went nuts and the speaker was constant static and it was back to how it was. Not sure what is going on, but it isn't COMPLETELY dead.

I opened up the speaker panel on the inside of the door and took the speaker out. I inspected it and the potentiometer that allows adjustment of sound. Those are fine and the resistors are doing their thing. The speaker now only emits a constant high pitched sound. On the lowest sound setting, it isn't too bad. I adjusted the sound to the lowest setting and unhooked the speaker for now.

Not sure what my next move is. One chip does look to have darker writing than the others, but not sure if that would indicate the chip is bad or not.

Time to offer up my similar machine to cross check your issues/results if you'd like. PM or call me to arrange an exchange and hopefully we can get you up and running properly. I'm up for a road trip if you are!?!

well. I can see 2 ac/dc bridge rectifers on the board

I would guess the sound comes from the chip labelled yamaha. As its sound generator chip. Checking for 5v accross the pin 1 and 40 would be a start.

As many things seem to be out. I would start with the incoming voltage from 24vac and work from there.

I have confirmed the 24V to the board. It's actually 26, but that is within the 10% tolerance level.
