Default Need help with Happy Pochi wrong transformer was used

Finally got the Happy Pochi all cleaned up and ready to try out and when I did, the lights went nuts and the speaker made a horrible sound and I think the system overloaded.

The transformer is 100V, not 110V and the output voltage that says it should be 24V AC to the control board was reading as 33V AC. See pictures below.

Here is what it currently does:
    • out of balls light does illuminate when it should
    • it will pay out balls made to any hole
    • the autolauncher works

Here is what it doesn't do (things controlled by control board):
    • No lights
    • No sounds
    • No gates opening to allow entry to center attraction if one of the three bottom holes are made

I need to know if the correct transformer would fix this and what may be wrong with the board. Help!

Your start noise was probably the alarm sounding as if someone was tampering with the machine in a parlor. It is deafening up close and unexpected. The regular sound and light only work during jackpots and perhaps random excite times. You will want a transformer with 110/120v input and 24v output and minimum 3 amp (72va) for this machine.

The large upper side wings should open for a second or two at a time when balls go in the number 1 and 2 holes below. They could be stuck as the wire rods in back could be knocked out of place from moving the machine.

The noise happened after I put a ball in the center shot, not when I started the machine up. The "wings" move freely, I have confirmed this via the solenoids on the back. Is there a max amperage that the transformer should have? What could have been damaged due to the excessive voltage?

Would this work as a replacement? https://www.amazon.com/weideer-Trans.../dp/B097XTBSH8

I’d just try a different transformer before doing much more troubleshooting. Too much voltage can damage components though obviously and is what kills a lot of pachinkos.

A higher amp transformer isn’t going to hurt anything as long as it’s 24v; 3amp would just be the minimum. Bigger transformers run cooler.

What do you mean by put a ball in the center shot? Manually? If you mean you manually put a ball in the center feature, it's making that noise because it thinks your cheating. A ball has to go into one of the '1' or '2' pockets first then you can put one in the center.

I really need a link to a new transformer so I can order a good one. Someone has had to have ordered a transformer to replace the one they got on there.

This is the transformer which I have on many of my machines. A bit overkill (but it will work fine) for your needs but can always be moved to another pachinko later when you get more.

There is also a pachinko dealer in Michigan that might be able to help quicker depending what inventory they have. Check moderpachinko.com and their phone number is at the bottom of the page. Transformers don't show up on the accessories page but call them to check.

In replacing that transformer you want a minimum of a 48VA, the Amazon 10VA is very under powered. I also wouldn't recommend using any HVAC or doorbell type transformers.

Your best bet is to find the information plate or stamping on the back of the machine. Oftentimes it looks like a decal or print on a clear plastic cover/housing. This will give you the info you need. You might not have any damage yet.

I have a transformer coming from the UP of MI. Should be here in few days and then I'll see where things are at.

So, the new transformer arrived and I wired it up and still have the same situation. I'm sure it has something to do with the control board, but I'm not sure what would be wrong. Can anyone suggest where to start troubleshooting the board? I see no cold solder joints and nothing looks fried.

Good ,Clear Full photos of Both the Front and Back of your machine please .

You might have missed something that the Members here can see . A cable ,A fuse , or something else that could cause your machine not to fully function .

see photos below. If I need a better one of the front, I can get one. I know some plastics are broken in the area behind the holes, but what isn't working is anything involving the control board including the speaker.

I'm not sure how much help I can be on electronics. But I give it a shot!
These games are very tolerant of voltage, so a 100-24VAC transformer plugged into 120VAC, as long as it's operating correctly, won't put out too much for the machine. I've had plenty that worked fine like this.

First I'd check the easy stuff, like connectors and wires. Make sure pins are straight and check continuity on the cables to make sure the signals are getting through. Next post a very clear shot of the main board front and back (I see you have it removed) Perhaps we can give you an idea what components to check.

Just asking, what works on the game? Be specific. Shooter? Payout motor (should run all the time in this game)?

Did that control board come in a plastic case? Cause if it's not insulated on the back, I'd be worried about components shorting on those metal brackets.

The shooter works, the payout motor in the lower corner works and pays out if a ball enters. The control board mounts within a metal enclosure, but it has stand-offs which keep it grounded but shouldn't cause a short. It's how all of the machines of this type are. I have also checked the capacitor and it seems fine (ohms increase when not in the circuit and tested with a DMM).

The "low/no balls in hopper" light does come on if low on balls. Basically anything that the control board doesn't handle.

The lights around the center attraction do flash for a brief quarter of a second if I have the control board hooked up, but only when I disconnect the wall plug.
