Default Volume control accidentally ripped off machine

We were moving a few machines around and my CR Haruhi Fever which had a rather indelicate volume knob attached found it quite unceremoniously detached and now there is no sound whatsoever.

Does anyone have a straight forward diagram for rewiring this as I genuinely have no idea which wire goes where.

    Many thanks,

I suspect those black cables aren't original. The answer to your question is probably located at the other end

but at a wild guess. I would say they have a common ground. then a LH and RH input. then a LH and RH output.

Pots aren't terribly complicated. TBH so long as you don't cross circuits polarity on them does not matter.
Or in other words, put 1 set of cables on 1 pot and the other on the 2nd pot.

That picture looks like 2 pots stacked on each other.

Many thanks folks, seems to be a simple fix, just wanted to be doubly sure before something went poof

Hoping to have a playable display of machines at a local gaming convention next month so just getting around to a few niggling issues that are overdue so everything works well on the day

I’m looking for a volume control for my Julie. Do you know the specs or PN of your potentiometer?

When I get home I will send you a diagram, that L Pad type is trickier to hook it up correctly since it requires both wires from each speaker

This shows one speaker, the pots are mechanically stacked and independent so the other speaker will go to the other set of terminals. https://images.app.goo.gl/uoc39ZtKi41JrmwL6

That looks like someone use Cat6 wire to extend the speaker wires to the new volume location. Look for the other end and match up with colors are connected. Then at the volume dial it doesn’t really matter but seeing the volume is stacked just solder each black sheathed wire to its own layer on the volume dial. If the machine runs in stereo you will have a 50% chance on getting the channels in the right place. If not just switch the wires around.

That is a $20 or so Stereo L-Pad Volume control you have there, not a cheap potentiometer. It is made precisely for what
    you need it for.

People experienced in installing these know that these are the best way to go for aftermarket volume control of an amp/ speaker system. It uses all 4 wires (from 2 speakers) and all 6 posts on the pot. These work way better than cheap pots and are safe on your machines amp. I have no idea if it ever was hooked up correctly but this is the correct wiring diagram for an L-Pad.

If it was mine I would get slightly heavier gauge wire and re-wire it from scratch following the diagram.

I did a search for “L Pad” and found a rather large selection. What watt and ohm spec should I get?

15 watt from parts express should be plenty, 8 ohms

It's not always easy to find a decent way to mount these. I went way overboard here on this Star Wars Machine with two mono L-pads. Picked up a
surplus automotive wiring harness with a connection joint somewhere online so I could open the machine without wires hanging
