Default My First Attempt At A Restoration - Nishijin Model A

Here are a couple of pics of my first attempt at restoration. My Nishijin Model A bowling alley theme had never had anything more done than some Windex & Pledge, so I decided to try my hand at taking everything apart, cleaning and polishing. Took lots of pictures as I disassembled, helped a lot. All plastics were cleaned using soap, water and a little Simple Green, followed by Meguiar's plastic polish. Metal parts got the wire wheel in the drill, 4/0 steel wool and chrome or metal polish. Nails were polished with a Dremel, shoe lace and Brasso (what a pain, but worth it). Playfield was cleaned using Windex, cotton balls and q-tips. I used a little Goo Gone on a q-tip to get some ancient scotch tape off of two spots on the playfield, fortunately no damage. I wish I was more capable, I'd love to be able to pull all the nails and replace the playfield, it's got the usual water damage, but it's not horrid. Next up is making some kind of new frame for it, the one that's on it now if from 1974ish and it particle board junk, perhaps some maple or cherry.
Once again, sideways pictures, if you click on them they're upright, no idea why.

Thanks, I've actually been looking for another machine, I'm not opposed to cleaning it, but I'm not competent enough to repair a non-working one either. I've got a couple on my radar on CraigsList & Offerup, but nothing yet.

Well, there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this site. With good clear pictures to go by, they can provide a lot of assistance without ever touching it. If you can take this model machine apart, clean everything, put it back together again and have it work properly, then you are more competent than you realize.

Thanks, I've watched a couple of videos, I'm not skilled enough yet to try pulling & replacing the nails, looking for a nail gauge, then maybe. The playfield looks like it might be doable with 2 people. I may just purchase a real fixer upper and practice on that to build my skills.
