    Default Stepper Motor

I'm in the process of building my own ball lifter, and am taking inspiration from marble hobbyists who use marble elevators. I have programmed an Arduino UNO board to control a step motor to turn a 3D printed spiral piece to lift balls. My question is whether a step motor is the appropriate type of motor to be using for such a task? Is there any reason why this would be inferior to some other type of motor? Any insight would be much appreciated!

I could be very wrong in this. but wouldn't a stepper motor be overkill for this. Aren't they normally used for applications where you want a motor to stop at an exact point. Where a lifter would just go round and round in one direction and its stopping point isn't an issue.

You would need an H bridge if you want to drive a standard dc motor in both directions. or just a transistor if only one.

You're probably right! I'm sure that's why 3D printers use stepper motors. In my case I just happened to have one lying around anyways so I thought I'd put it to use. Will update this thread as my project progresses

good idea arduino , look this post : https://www.pachitalk.com/forums/sho...l-Lifter/page5

soon nano arduino , sensor , relay for the sensor 6v minimum but nano arduino 5v , so relay and the 3d print to the post
