    Default Isuzu Diamondball restoration project

Well, it finally happened to me, after 7 years of looking; FINALY a cheap arrangeball showed up for sale deep in the backwoods of SC and hour and 45 mins away. Nice country guy had it for many years; said he bought it at an auction and planned to fix it up but never materialized. The lock has no key and he never opened it; I was able to jimmy it open with a butter knife though. It has a cord and a light on the left side is illuminate when plugged in. No coins in it though. The payout tray is obviously busted too; but for $80 couldn’t resist picking it up to hopefully restore to working.

I always associated Isuzu with turbo diesel box trucks; not arrangeballs! Seems like an odd off-brand. Anyone else seen this Diamondball? Is it complete? Any tips or pointers? I’ve restored 3 special electric type pachinkos but this is next level pro level restoration skills needed!

    Nice find...I don't see a tranformer..most will be 24vac.

Looks complete. Have a good look at boards for indications of burnt components.

Oh it’s got a transformer! Just tested it kinda; tricked the micro switches into thinking I put a coin in it and there was tokens in it. Everything seems to work; both solenoids all lights; it tries to pay out if it’s lit up and you press the button to payout. It resets properly, ect.

I put balls in all holes; a few leaf switches were dirty/not working till I used a toothpick to fiddle with them.. haha.

    Default Isuzu Diamondball restoration project

So far so good; I continue to clean it, it now appears to be working besides the only have one coin so must go to the bank. I got lucky one cleaning it out and found a single “special coin” I cleaned the ball tracks and shooter area so it’s firing smooth; and it looks like was time to retire the original 16 balls. The severely rusty one was getting stuck in leaf switches. Not doing any favors to the playfield either! I’ll probably enjoy playing it a month or two until tear down time.

I didn't see any of the centre grid light up. Are they functioning, just not in any of the pics?

It seems they light up whenever you get 4 in a row. I would guess they count your payout in coins? I still need coins and the bank near me doesn’t open till Wednesday due to covid for some reason.

In this picture; I put balls in every pocket from leftmost “2” to “13” which got me “connect four”/“bingo”

I would imagine these are the gameplay rules; anyone care to translate? Seems like it’s just showing the different ways to score.

All lights are working; even the out of coins light. Got lucky I guess?! I just need to test the coin payout system now. The solenoid does make a loud clanking sound after pushing the button.

    verry common

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 in a row, top to bottom gets you one token

4 in a row, left to right gets you two token

get a ball in the 6,7,10,11 pockets and you will get 3 tokens (also looks to be a possible bonus with this combo getting you one more token but not sure how)

like most all arrangeball 16 balls total in play

Yep; if you hit that lucky 7 tulip the solenoid loudly clanks to life immediately and 7 light illuminates. It startled me pretty good when I first tried that dropping a ball in the tulip and it did that so loud! I’m on the hunt for Susan B Anthony and Presidential dollar coins now!

Scoring did not convert (translate) well but as mention by Mopar above:
    Horizontal 2 Points

    Vertical 1 point

Translation: as best as I could get.

Game method (1) If you insert metal, you can make 16 balls. The lamp will come on when you enter the hole.
    6-7 JP 10-11 3 points

In addition to the above, there is one piece of metal at the same time as entering the 7th chucker. ③ When you pass the replay course at both ends, the ball will return to the launch point and you can re-hit the ball. ④ If you insert metal in the middle of the game or press the checkout button, the game will be out. Please ask the staff for details.

Excellent news; with help of 25 Presidential dollar coins from my son’s coin collection; it’s been fully tested and is 100% functional!

Sacajawea dollars cause problems (jams) though.

Does anyone have a parts arrangeball with a coin catcher tray to sell me by chance? Otherwise; I’ll have to rig up a lower pachinko ball catcher somehow to catch coins. It’s definitely getting restored now!

may have already been mentioned but quarters typically work fine.
some of these machines have a very loud coin dispenser mech and some are very quiet.
also, these are supposed to be run on 100V so I use a step down transformer which does quiet the coin mech down a bit.

I thought it was against forum policy to endorse/recommend converting machines to use US currency to use as home gambling devices?! I’m going to report you…

“If you're looking for information on the conversion of machines from token based to currency based, please look elsewhere. We promote these machines for the fun and enjoyment they offer in a family game room setting. We do not promote gambling”

Might just have to try quarters too!
