Default Restore or Scrap for Parts

I have a Nishijin Model A machine that I need to make a decision on. The machine is very restorable except for the one part shown in the photo here. The little ball doodad (I'm not sure of the techincal term) is broken and some of the pieces that broke off are missing. So there is really no hope or reassembling the part. I have another Model A that I have restored and put in a cabinet that could use some of the superficial parts on the back of this one, but the restored one works just fine right now.

I would really like to restore the one in the picture since this is the only part that broken/missing on this machine. Is there a way to find a very similar part that can take the place of this one? Are these parts so hard to find that I am just better off scrapping this machine for Nishijin Model A parts and looking for more Model As? I would love to hear the community's thoughts on this.

Cruise ebay for parts--lot of parts available. You might consider changing the upper center attraction altogether--complete center attractions and related parts are available, but you will have to find something that fits.

OR--make a new piece. Depends on how handy you are in that department. Since the surviving piece is a mirror of the broken piece, you can't make a mold and cast a new one. But you might remove the existing piece, fabricate something completely new, then cast that piece for the other side, and install the two new pieces. Just make sure your new design doesn't involve mirror image pieces...

Honestly, I think finding a new, but different piece from a different machine is easiest.

I tend to agree with Machgo.

I sure wouldn't scrap the machine if this is the only piece that is broken.
It's just a "pass-through" piece. I would find something similar in size, that would work with the existing nail placement. I'm not referring to the nail placement securing it, but to the nail placement surrounding it. So, balls will still be able to enter the pass-through from the side.
What if...the HOKEY POKEY, is what it's all about?

I have some some Nishijin top pocket parts, but not the one you are looking to replace.

I am on the hunt for vintage pachinko parts as well. PachiTalk should have a dedicated forum for parts, like Vintage Pachinko Pick-A-Part forum.

I am going to do a full restore on this one. I have already ordered a part that will fit where the broken part is but I am going to keep looking for this part or perhaps fabricating/repairing this part.
