Default Credit Counter won't light up, machine won't accept tokens

Hi, I'm new to this forum and will appreciate any help that can be provided.

I don't know much about this or any gaming machine, but I am fairly handy and am mechanically inclined.

There was an HE error and tokens were being loaded into the hopper. Now the Credit Counter does not light up, tokens are not accepted. I also noticed that when I turn the interior key on/off nothing happens now, whereas previously the Credit Counter would turn on/off accordingly.

I checked the one fuse in power supply which is ok, is there another fuse somewhere else? Any ideas on what my issue could be?

    Thank you,

    Kim

I should also mention that I have tried resetting the machine 8-10 times with no success.

I did just find this second fuse but it was also not blown.

Hello. There are people on this board who are far more knowledgeable about this than I am. I thought I would respond since I am also new to this board and these types of machines and just solved a different HE problem with my machine.

When I was first troubleshooting my machine, I really didn't know what I was doing and it seemed like I was getting all kinds of strange behavior from it. Part of this was because I wasn't always performing the reset properly and I didn't know how I should troubleshoot the machine.

I just wanted to ask, are you sure you are doing the hard reset properly and if so, have you tried resetting it with the hopper disconnected? This may or may not matter at all for your machine but I remember my machine got into a state where it was constantly sounding the HE alarm, even in credit mode, and I was able to stop it by unplugging the hopper and doing the reset.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to reply.

I have tried resetting with and without the hopper connected but still nothing happens. The saddest part is that my 97 year old father-in-law is now staying with us and he was really looking forward to playing on this machine.

Thanks again for trying to help!

Do you still have the HE error?

You can check and reseat all the connectors, sometimes its just something simple!!

Also, it's easy to miss a step in the reset procedure, make sure you're not missing any steps!!

"How To Set the Skill Levels of Your Pachislo
    HOW CHANGE ODDS:

    "TURN YOUR MACHINE OFF FIRST"

    1. Locate internal key switch, and insert key.
Note: In order to change odds, machine must be in idle mode with no tokens/coins or credits being played and off.

    2. Turn "reset" key switch to on, to access programming mode.

    3. Turn on machine now.

    4. Depending on machine type, a number from 1 to 6 will be displayed on one of the LED meters on front door.

    5. Locate and push Skill button. Depress button and notice movement of number being displayed in LED meter.

    6. Once desired level is displayed (1 to 6), push down on play handle (Joy Stick) for 10 seconds, and depress both "BET CREDITS" and "COLLECT CREDITS" buttons to lock odds level into machine memory.

    7. Turn "reset" key back to off.

    8. Machine should immediately initialize. If not, turn power switch to the OFF position, wait 15 seconds and turn power switch back to ON position.

Thanks for your advice but unfortunately after following the reset steps very carefully there is no change; the Credit Counter will not illuminate under any situation.

I have also just checked all of the connections that I can see without removing the reels.

So besides the fuse on the power supply and the other pictured previously, are there any more fuses that I am missing?

Hi - not sure if this will help (or perhaps you already saw it) but there's a YouTube video that goes into an explanation of the play & maintenance of the same machine as yours: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KPhUtMpSvA&t=1s

Go to 17:25 for the section on HE alarm, reset procedure, etc.

Usually these machines are in 1 of 2 states: Normal operating mode, or Reset mode. As you mentioned in the first post, the Credit Counter will show 00 (or some number) in Normal operating mode, and will not display in Reset mode. In Reset mode there will be a number from 1-6 in one of the displays, which indicates the odds level. If you aren't seeing the 1-6 odds level, nor the Credit counter display, something else is going on. Where to go next I'm not sure... it starts getting into 'break out the multimeter' time and break it down into sections and check continuity, voltages, or any other diagnostic lights that the machine might have.

Maybe some of the more experienced members can give other suggestions.

Others have found that the actual switch is damaged or become disconnected. So (with the power off) remove the PSU and open it. Then check the wiring and continuity from the switch.

I just removed the power supply again and unplugged/reconnected every connection inside the power supply but still no credit lights. I tested the wiring on reset key with a multimeter and it tested ok.

    Any other ideas?
