Default Cranky Condor problems - NEWBIE NEEDS HELP

Alright I've been searching the forum for hours and can't find my answer. If there is the answer in another thread, feel free to point me there and I'll close this ticket.

So I got a Cranky Condor machine that's been sitting in my dad's house for a couple years, then my house for a year, and now I'm ready to make it work or sell it off to someone who can. The problem I'm having is that it won't stop paying out and doesn't seem to want to properly reset. The hopper just spins and spins until it's empty, then gives the HE error. I even tried continuously pouring the coins back into the hopper to see if it just needed to reach a threshold, but it never stops (seriously, went for 5 minutes straight).

I took some video (HEADPHONES WARNING - the hopper is loud as heck with the door open) that I hope will help diagnose, at very least, the first hopper problem so I can move on to other problems (like modding it to work with quarters). https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lyp...ew?usp=sharing

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Hi, I would suggest you disconnect and remove the hopper. Take it apart and clean it thoroughly, especially the sensor that counts tokens. Modifying it for coins is not supported here so you won't get any help with that.

I would also suggest a full reset.

ive tried the reset procedure but the front LED lights never come on when the key is in reset position and it doesn’t seem to accomplish anything.

Took your advice and now I have a nice clean hopper, but still no change in function. Any other ideas?

If modding to coins isn't recommended, can anyone point me to where I can buy some medallions that will work in it? I'm just looking to make it useable for fun, I have no interest in setting it up for gambling.

    Thanks again for your help!

Let's backup, So you are saying that when doing a reset you cannot scroll 1 through 6 on the front or anywhere else with the small button?

I can scroll through the numbers 1-6 in the bonus window, but nothing shows up in the credit or win. Then when I turn the key back, the machine goes back to emptying the hopper until it gives the hopper empty error.

Nothing showing in the credit or win with the reset key on, is normal. There is a switch on many of these units power supplys for manually emptying the hopper and it might be on or shorted closed. Check that out. How bout a pic of the power supply, I have never owned that machine.

Try flipping those toggle switches above the fuse holders near the reset key one at a time and see if the problem goes away. One very well might be to empty the hopper.

Its still possible one of those switches is used to empty the hopper and its shorted on. That's the only thing that I can think of that would explain your issue. At this point I would remove that module, open it up and check both switches with a VOM. If you dont have one or don't understand the concept you can may be able to disconnect a lead on each to test that theory. Also you can try disconnecting one lead to the hopper motor, insulate it, then plug the machine in and reset it and see if you can play it until HE or see if it immediately errors. That will tell us something.

Okay, you ready for this? Because I feel pretty foolish on this one...

So, there's a switch in the side of the hopper with "ON" and "OFF" in english. It's one of those that locks into place and needs to be pulled to toggle it. I assumed that this was a hard power cut for the hopper, in case you had to dig out some jammed medallions and didn't want to lose a finger doing it. I'll give you one guess as to what that switch actually seems to do.

That's right, it forces the hopper to perpetually empty.

Thanks to everyone for their help, I learned a lot more about the machine along the way!
