    Default reel/stop button isses

I picked up this slot machine and am trying to work out a few issues.
    IMG_6833.jpg
Here is a video of the issues.
I have fixed a few things shown in the video.

    1) I now do have the Token hopper working and it will payout when demanded and the button at the bottom will spin it as well so that part is all good now.
A close inspection and I found many of the hopper wires were chewed/damaged. Mouse? But now the hopper works as expected.

    2) I fixed the Light that came ON after I closed the door in the video. It was a lose wire.

    3) I figured out if I let the first reel time out and STOP. I can spin the other 2 reels a little and they with STOP and end the play and I can insert tokens and play again without having to reset the machine.

So the real issues I have left are the 2nd and 3rd reels not spinning and the other issue is that none of the STOP buttons are working. I did have a blown fuse on the "stop board" (I think it is called) that was caused by the damaged/chewed hopper wiring and after repairing the wire the 1A fuse no longer blows. See image for fuse location 1a_fuse_location.jpg

The cap on that board looks fine and in fact both sides of the board looks fine. But only 1 reel starts when expected and none of the buttons will STOP the reel that does spin. It has to time out before it stops.

If by chance it is the Stop Board. (The one showing the fuse location) Where might I try to find one if there is no chance of repairing the one I have. (I can solder and I have the proper tools for doing it. I just need to know what to do.)

Thanks in advance for any help I can get to solve the issue.

Check your main board for any stuck input buttons or switches. Then swap a faulty reel with the good reel. Just to confirm it's not a motor issue. Then if al else fails. You might have to change the board.

    UPDATE:

I just found more mouse damage.... 30 wires chewed on the motherboard ribbon cable behind the motherboard.
I never seen it until I pulled out the power supply. I then seen some small bits of what looked like ribbon cable wire and
with a closer look that is in fact what it was.

I got more work .... I mean "wiring and soldering" to do now.

I will report back how it goes.wire_damage_4.jpg

    Cable Update:

The cable has been repaired. Sure hope it helps solve a few issues. That mouse sure made a mess of the wiring.

    UPDATE:

The cable repair was a success! All 3 reels are now spinning when the play is started.
I am still not able to use the "STOP BUTTONS" But that may be because I have the 1A Fuse out of the "STOP BOARD"
This is because I don't have any on hand. I have 10 that will be here tomorrow so I will report back with more good news (I hope) after the fuses arrive.

So, it looks like the reason I was having all the issues was due to damaged wires caused by a mouse. I spliced in the missing connections and
the machine seams to be working as expected. Adding the 1A fuse should allow the stop buttons to work as a close inspection of the "STOP BOARD"
it all looks fine. No burnt traces, no hot spots, no caps leaking/bulged etc etc, so I think it will work fine.

Maybe my little journey here may help someone else with like issues.
I have never owned a slot machine before I got this one. But, I'm thinking if I can fix one with help from the internet then anyone can.
And I have to say that the Pachislo Repair guide was a good read. I learned a lot from it.

My Final Update on this project should come tomorrow and include a 2 to 3 minute video of the machine in full play. That is my hope anyway.

    Well the UPDATE IS:

The "STOP BOARD" seams to have some sort of short on it. I put in a new fuse and it blew it.
So I unplugged all the connections to it and plugged in only the power plug and when I turned on the power the fuse blew with nothing else connected to the board. So I am going to guess something on the board is shorted out.
I have looked very closely and I don't see or smell any kind of damage. But, clearly something is not right with it.

Right now this is all I got: https://youtu.be/Ol6HwyMyVmk

So I am sending the "STOP BOARD" off to be repaired.

    Any other suggestions?

Bad caps on the stop board causes the fuse to blow.

Any chance I can buy a CAP Kit for my board? I can repair a ribbon cable so re capping this board should be eye candy!
If not a cap kit, where can I get the caps?

    UPDATE: I blew another fuse.

So, I unplugged everything from the STOP BOARD and put in a new fuse. I plugged in only the power cord going to the STOP BOARD and then turned on the machine. The fuse blew with only the power connected so I am going to guess a short in the STOP BOARD. Maybe a bad cap?

Any chance I can buy a CAP Kit for my STOP BOARD? If I can repair a ribbon cable, re capping this board should be eye candy!

This is what I have now:

Your item #4, the part at location C10 would often go bad from what I recall of others.

I am going to give fixing this Stop Board a shot myself. "I aint skared"!

I have started removing the suspect parts that could be bad to have a closer look at them. Is there a way to check each part once I take it off the board to confirm it is bad if in question?
Hummmm.... It looks like I have found one part that is clearly damaged.

Here is a look at the first damaged part I found. I did not see that until after I removed it from the PC board.
    part_4_suspect.jpg

Here is what I think is the correct replacement part:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/381299661830?hash=item58c73b1c06:g:ZzsAAOSwyQtVguLj

That would be part #4 from the suspected bad parts image above. So at least one of the 4 parts are in fact bad.

I also have removed part #3 the diode (I think its called) and part #2 The big Cap. See image for the numbers on the parts.

    part_3_suspect.jpg

    part_2_suspect.jpg

So now I just need to be sure I get the proper replacement parts.
I have the proper tools to work on circuit boards (soldering station, the proper size tip, proper size solder, flux etc etc) what I don't have is knowledge about the components.
But, I can sure remove them and not damage the traces on the board and I can put them (or new parts) back without any issues.

I think part #1 in that image is a transistor. Is that right? I can remove and replace it as well if need be. I am open to suggestions. Should I replace all 4 parts? I will need to remove part #1
to get the numbers off of it so I can try and find a replacement part.

So in short I need help making sure I get the right parts. I am sure it is strange that I can do this kind of stuff but have no clue about the parts I am working with.
My father was a TV repair guy 50 years ago and I learned how to do a lot of things watching him and now I wish I have really paid more attention to what he was teaching me about.
But as a young kid skateboards and then girls were the in thing back then. LOL

If I can get help locating the right parts I should have no issue installing them.

    Thanks Peteyboy,

The link to what he used is dead but it shows there is still hope.

I went on and ordered what I showed including the big caps. I will replace C10 for sure. I may put the other old parts back and try them.
It will be a few days before the parts arrive. But I will still be around trying to learn this stuff. I need to source the other parts just in case.
I don't mind buying the parts and not even using them. What I don't like is when I buy parts and then I go to use them only to find out I bought a part that I can't use.
Now that I don't like and I don't care if it's .50 cents or $100.00. It don't matter as long as one day I might use it. But , if its the wrong part then I will never use
it and that don't make me happy. OK Sorry rant over now!

Correct, those links are old and dead. Rather I meant to share what others wrote out as to what parts they used. I don't know the make up of parts well enough to say "yes that's the one" but I can get there from the experience of those going down the same path before me.
