    Default Sticky arm on Sanyo

see attached. This joint is has a lot of tension so the arm doesn't pivot freely, it takes a lot of pressure to move it and then it stays down. the joint is a pin glued into the plastic, it's not a bolt i can just loosen.

i did a search and i know there is info in here somewhere but it didn't pop in my search. any tips?

Use a pipe cleaner and some plastic safe cleaner inside the hole of the arm, and on the post. Then fine sandpaper if necessary on either or both.

I agree with those who caution against using oil on pivot points, but in this case, a drop of silicone oil--NOT any lubricant containing petroleum products--wouldn't hurt, in my opinion.

That pin is just a pin. There's no head or flare to retain the arm, so you should be able to wiggle the arm off of it. Once they are separated, then clean clean clean and you you'll be good as new.

Thanks for the clear photo. Those help a lot!

i have found that style of machine with that same pivot point bound up tight.. light sanding most of the time.. once i actualy had to run a drill bit threw it to open it up.. something about that plastic pivot point seems to have problems..

no oil please.. leave it dry..
