update: #1 is interested in someone repairing his machine. I'm not in the repair business but someone else on here who is local might be.

The strategy that works for me from buying from people who want too much is just offer your max price and mention if they don’t get any higher offers in a couple months your offer stands. Such people eventually realize local demand for pachinkos is so low and their asking price is more like “eBay prices”. So they come down to earth.

I recently used this tactic on a local lady who wouldn’t budge on the $100 price of the nice model C I just got; I offered my max price since it’s better than average shape: $80, after she balked at original $60 offer, she still declined both my offers and I didn’t want to overpay/pay asking price. Two months go by, and nobody else wanted it apparently, so she says will drop it off at my house and only wanted $70 now.

I do the same. Sometimes someone else comes along and pays the asking price or makes a higher offer, other times you get a call a couple weeks later asking if you are still interested in buying.
