    Default Tattooed Dragon pachinko machine

At least, that's what I'm calling it. As some of you may know, I picked up a couple of ordinary machines a while ago. One, I did a custom Route 66 theme.

The other has a castle center feature. Member, copeina said, "That nice open space in the top left is begging for a flying dragon". I liked the dragon idea and decided I'd do the whole playfield in a dragon theme. I found a tattoo dragon artwork poster to use for the playfield. I attached it to the playfield with Super 77 adhesive. Then, I covered it with a sheet of 5 mil Mylar to protect it.

Here are the before and after pictures.

The front features are exactly the same as my machine, the back is completely different on mine.
Really like the cabinet work and extras to make it a quality restore project.
The background really makes it stand out thematically.

    Nice Job

I'm not a big fan of "non traditional" backgrounds...but, this seems to work.

What did you do with all the back plastics? New injection molded? Nice and clean for sure.

The back plastics were really dirty. It took a couple of days to disassemble, clean and reassemble. I cleaned them with soap and water, using a small scrub brush and SOS pad. Then when they dry, I use Turtle Wax plastic restorer on both sides of the plastic. It makes the plastic look brand new.

One thing special about this machine is the tulip below the castle. It is a "double strike tulip". When a ball goes into it and the tulip opens, it doesn't close until two balls go into it.

I did change what lights up on Win's and when the hopper is empty. Originally, on Win's the only thing that lite up was the center feature and for the hopper empty the red lights in the red, white and blue bar.
Now, on Win's the center feature lights up amber, the entire red, white and blue bar lights up and the yellow lenses in the upper right corner light up.

When the hopper is empty, the center feature now lights up, red.

I also added an led light strip, to light up the playfield.

The lever to release the balls on the shooter tray was missing. I didn't have any in my supply of parts, so I decided to make one. I made it from a toothbrush handle, cutting and reshaping it to fit.

But, It really looks like different parts - all the branding is missing?

Exactly!, it does look like different parts.

The Turtle Wax Trim Restorer works great. For translucent pieces like clear plastic and lenses for the lights, you need to do both sides to get the crystal clear finish. it also works great on the solid plastic pieces, like the shooter tray, overflow tray, playfield pieces, etc.. It leaves them with that "wet look".

It's hard to see the branding in my original picture, so here are some close-up pictures.

Wow! I have a Nishijin B in my storage locker, 2 or 3 down on the to-do list. The plastics are brown like in your before photo. I honestly had no idea they ere translucent. Can't wait to shine them up and see the transformation. That's amazing!

    Thanks for sharing,

They do look brown in the first photo, but they are not. That's just years of caked on dust.
