Creepy clown Kan-less electric Nishijin

I’ve never seen a Kan-less before so I promptly bid on this one in hopes of doing full restoration. This one seems pretty weird compared to Powerflash or my Fishing themed special electric.


It’s got 2 solenoids; one for payouts another for opening tulips I assume. Also has an electric motor with “water wheel” for balls which is really confusing for me why it’s there.

It appears to have an electric bell/buzzer too?? Not to mention it has a mysterious red button... what could it do?!


The transformer it came with isn’t working; so that’s top of my list to replace; also seller did a poor job of padding in the shipping box and the front tray cracked; I’ll have to take that up with the seller but that can be repaired/replaced.

Hopefully I can get this thing going with a new transformer, then can dig into the restoration any tips or suggestions are welcome! Does anybody have a working model of one of these?

Actually, this one has 3 solenoids; there’s also a big one under the payout area. This one just keeps getting weirder; 3 solenoids, 1 motor, 1 mystery button... looks like I’m in for a challenge!

I got impatient on waiting on a new transformer so I hooked up a transformer I had lying around for one of my modern pachinkos (24v of course)

I’m in business! The motor works; all 3 solenoids work; payouts are working! This one works like the fishing theme one I have; after the ball is finished spinning round and round the big top, IF it goes in the special middle hole all tulips open up.

The coolest part of this machine is the mystery red button; it’s a ball loan button!!!
Those of you with modern pachinkos are probably familiar; if you buy a special “dongle” you can hack a modern machine to dispense extra balls whenever you’d like; this does the same thing except a loud buzzer goes off each time you request more balls. Pretty neat feature for home use!

This machine has an OG Daverob dongle for all intents and purposes!

It’s all systems go for complete restoration now... the fish playfield has got to go! Updates to follow eventually...

Nope... it would be cool if it did though! It directs the winning balls so they spin around in a clear plastic dish/funnel until it drops out the middle hole to one of the lower 3 holes. Right hole opens right tulip, left the left tulip, and middle hole opens them all!

I have a working one with a cowboy theme...or maybe Sumo wrestler, I can't remember. Lots of broken plastic on the back, and the circuit board was broken in 2, but was repaired. It works, but I haven't playedit in a long time. I looked for the thread on it, couldn't find it.

Nice! Got pics? Does it have a solenoid for the tulips like the other special electrics? Just curious how many variants there are...

Bring in the clowns....It’s done! I gave it the playfield it should have came with from the factory; needs more creepy clowns! Also made a Pennywise themed cabinet with front accessible ball catcher to bump up the creepiness level a couple of notches!

This is a cool machine to play; the ball spins for a good 10+ seconds in the center feature so it’s a real tease waiting to see if it will drop through the middle hole and open all tulips! The buzzer/bell is twice as loud as a model A or B; so while different it does drive family members nuts... The ball loan “cheat” button is very useful.

Sure; it’s a 76’ It works just like the fishing theme special electric one I’ve got; left hole opens left tulip, right hole opens right tulip; middle hole opens all 4!

If you look below the lower reward tray there’s a mysterious small red button. Push it and it’s dispenses 15 additional balls and the bell rings; not unlike a modern machine you add credits too.

Lots of these Kan-less machines have the ball dispensing button; how it was used in a parlor is a mystery to me. But perfect for home use!
