Pardon my ignorance, but where do I begin

So I bought 15 pachislos for $10 each! They are in various forms of disrepair! One Hanabi worked right away, but since then I have had 4 that wouldnt do anything! They are in pretty rough shape and 4 have the power cords cut. As I go through the ones that have cords first, is there a procedure for someone who has no idea what he is looking at, to heck components for functionality? Also, is there a general component setup diagram somewhere so that as I troubleshoot, I may have some idea of what I am looking at? I guess I have been able to figure out that there is a power supply, transformer, reel stop board, mother board, reels, reel motors, token mechanism and hopper. Where would you guys start? I will try to upload some pictures as this thread progresses.

Photos will help us help you with the troubleshooting steps for the machines. Maybe even help out members that may have a machine that you have that they need as reference to fix theirs.

Some pachislos are 24V and some are 100V and they all have the same plugs so be careful!!

Yeah I have attempted powering up several of them, with little success. There is a Hanabi that seems to work satisfactorily, but with few or no keys, I am trying to find a reset hack for the ones with no keys which wont power up. Also, need to find a way to identify the different types of machines. There are about a half a dozen sammys and Olympics I think that's the names. I dont know the difference between A-type and so on either. This seems overwhelming at times!

Heys are not a big issue. They can be opened by reaching through the "overflow hole" in the bottom to manipulate the latch from inside. Once inside, you can remove the power supply, open it up, then replace the key lock switch with a simple SPST (single pole, single throw) toggle switch. Then full resets and odds changes can be made like normal. With the exception that you "flip the switch" instead of "turn the key".

could you please take a pic of wiring on door in area of lock on your ben hur machine for me?
I have same machine and I have 2 wires by the door lock that are dissconnected. I'm not sure where they go.

Hey Dagrams, i have been trying to upload the pic of the inside of the door for two days, but i keep getting a message that says it failed to upload... i will keep trying. anyway, the only wires on mine are to the button right near the key slot. not sure if that helps

Also if your pic Is the right size and you still get an error it could be a current problem we are having with our forum software that sometimes keeps a pic from being uploaded, but a second try will usually fix that!!
