    Default Greetings from Asheville, NC

Howdy! I'm so glad to find Pachitalk community and am happy to join the パチ family

I've been eyeing an orphaned machine at a local junk store for the past year, and my wife surprised me with an early Christmas present It's a Heiwa CR Yattaman K model.

Good news - It powers on and lights up! The shooter seems to work! The jackpot game starts when you drop a ball in the slot! (Only had one ball to test... more on the way)
Not-so-good news - Been sitting in a warehouse so it needs some cleaning, and the prize hopper is totally missing -- looks like it snapped off at some point. It doesn't have a CR dongle, so I just ordered one from davepinball! (although I may be OK for now, since the shooter seems to be firing without the dongle)

    Background:
I lived in Fukuoka back in the late 90's and have many fond memories of playing this interesting game of "vertical pinball with bearings"! My first time playing pachinko has an interesting story --

I went into a parlor with some Japanese friends and sat down at a machine. They went off to play a different game, so I was trying to figure out what was going on in this amazing contraption. I bought a PANY card, pushed some buttons to get some balls, and turned the shooter handle. I didn't know what I was doing... I was aiming for the side pockets which would only give 2 or 3 balls as a reward, so the guy next to me showed me the "10-yen coin" trick. I watched the balls fly around in the machine and the slots revolve, and about a minute later, I came up with a jackpot combo! Lights start flashing, and the guy next to me gets so excited! Fever round, go! He knocks the coin out from the shooter handle and shows me where I should try to get the balls. I aim to get them in the prize drawer that was opening and closing, and in about a minute, I fill up bins with prize balls! I went to the redemption center and I think I got some kind of redemption ticket, which I used to get one of the thinnest and most gadgety Walkman (at the time).

I've been back a few times since then but haven't hit the jackpot since.

    Welcome Aboard

    Nice story.

At least your heiwa doesn't have the b1F board. they are know for going faulty on early modern Heiwas.
I so have an alarm bell ringing in my head. You say the shooter works but you don't have a dongle?

Without a dongle, the shooter shouldn't work at all, unless the circuit board has been modified or blobbed. The daevrob dongle should still enable the front buttons and loan fuctions. but it might be worth dropping him a message to confirm, before plugging it in.

Hello Yattaman_NC and welcome to the group

I think you have what was called a cash machine of that era. I have a couple that do not require a dongle to shoot the balls.
