Default How many Pachinko balls is enough answer never enough

Ok I haven't seen a thread like this and I thought it might be fun if people are interested in it. If there is already an ongoing thread for this feel free to lock it and point me over to that thread. Or to move it to the correct section, if it should be elsewhere.

But I am working on fixing up my first machine, and I just ordered my first set of Pachinko balls, I ordered two sets of 500 so I will have a 1000 in total, they wont arrive for about another week or so, but I got to thinking about how many should I own?

The set I ordered from was from Ebay, and it stated that "Most balls are smooth, with some engraved may be mixed in" Which I find really cool that some might even have a mom and pop style engraving showing where they came from. I also saw a lot of listings for golden pachinko balls, so I figured a thread showcasing the collection of just the balls might be really fun.

How many balls do you have in your collection? Do you prefer Silver or Gold, and what is the most interesting engravings that you have found?

At least 10k and about 200 made in Japan Gold plated spheres. And yes I have a couple quart mason jars of rusted and pitted balls (ballast you know).

I have about 20K rolling around.

The most interesting in my collection are the elusive Unicorn balls

I have around 18k which were all recently washed. I'd say they are about 50/50 smooth and engraved with a couple hundred smooth gold ones mixes in.
I ordered up a 5k case from Japan last month coming via the slow boat. I like to have 1k-2k per most machines.

Do you mind sharing how much shipping was for the balls? I've thought about buying in bulk from Japan a couple of times, but thought that by the time shipping was factored in that it might not be any more cost effective than buying from someone stateside that is importing in 100,000+ quantities.

The total was $200 or 4 cents per ball on a case of 5k cleaned balls. Other than getting large quantities a few times with some small collections I've bought, seems that sellers now want 6-8 cents per ball after shipping is figured in. How many are you looking for??

I don't have a particular amount in mind at this point in time. I probably have somewhere between 15-20,000 balls that are in great shape right now. My plan is to build three pachinko islands, (6 modern, 4 early modern, 3 vintage) so I'll probably need some more to fill the machines/islands, and I'll also need to have a few thousand on hand to play anything that I don't have installed in an island. There is a company that is within a reasonable driving distance so when the time comes I will ask them for a quote first and then decide if I want to buy from them or import myself.

I just got my first set of 1000 about a week ago, they came in two packs of 500 each, I have only opened up one thus far, mostly smooth, about 430ish smooth and 70ish engraved

    Sunshine.jpg Nice.jpg

My favorite ones ended up saying Sunshine I got about 30-40 of them, which is really cool, All the others only had 1-5 of each, but I found two that said Nice, a bunch with only a single letter like "N" or "M" and a few that say Zoo in very large print, or they just had a star on them, I just find this stuff interesting thinking about where they originally came from which got me thinking has anyone ever made a list of Famous Pachinko Balls or Parlors?

I plan on buying more Pachinko machines in the future, so I will be ordering more balls, but not all at once just 500-1000 every few months or so, or a bunch if I buy a bunch of machines all at once XD

"Note" I originally wanted to do a leaderboard in the OP but since I can't edit the OP. I figured this could just be a cool thread to just show off how many balls you have or just your favorite ones, which for me right now are the Sunshine Balls, I'm going to set them aside and hopefully maybe I will get lucky as I order more balls and will get enough to use them exclusively in my first machine. So I only need about 470+ more that say Sunshine.

I think it's against the law to display your Balls in the U.K.
