Barry Manilow concert. Yes, it was worth the agony. I scored twice that night. (At the same time.)

My immediate recollection was when my wife and I were seated, "Front Row Center" for a Rolling Stones concert in 1979 at Detroit's Masonic Temple. No exaggeration either - literally front row and center. Made any concert experience after that pale by comparison. At one point, Jagger actually sat at the end of the stage and sang a portion of "Jumping Jack Flash" directly to my wife. At another point Watts broke a tip off his drumstick and tossed them toward the audience. Guess who caught them? (Wish I knew what happened to them...)

Other Concerts (in no particular order):
    Chicago (2x)
    Beach Boys (4x)
    Beatles (1966)
    Wings
    Herman's Hermits
    ELO
    The Who
    Queen
    Frank Sinatra (2x)
    Paul Simon
    The Commodores
    Bread
    Neil Diamond (3x)
    Kansas
    Alice Cooper
    Fleetwood Mac
    Billy Joel
    Aretha Franklin
    Kenny Rogers / Dottie West
    Hall & Oates
    The Reflections
    Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders
    The Cyrkle
Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels

Sure brought back some great memories. Thanks.

Hey man, you can't be from Detroit and not include Ted Nugent aka Motor City Madman or The MC5, heck even I've seen Teddy when he was still an Amboy Duke, then there's Terry Knight and The Pack
Pachislos: Alien, Azteca Returns, Death Valley, Guts, Gamera HGV, Hokuto No Ken, Jet Set Radio, Mephisto, Oasis, Speed Racer, Surprise, Twenty Seven, Thunderbirds, Wild Wolf
Pachinkos: Blooming Field, Casino, Freddy vs Jason, Horror Mansion, Indiana Jones, Julie, Lucky Boat of Seven God, Popeye, Spiderman

Agreed Musky ! Being a native of Detroit, I've seen Uncle Ted a number of times..
He used to faithfully perform on New Years Eve at Cobo Hall.. Alyways a pleasure... Never had the chance to see the MC5, woulda been cool though.

True enough (at least about Nugent, I forgot about his annual shows.) Also forgot Bob Seger and the Last Heard and probably many more from the Grande Ballroom daze... must have "drain bamage" , eh?

My list probably seems a little long, but not if you consider that I actually got paid to attend many of these shows. One of my duties was to act as the City of Detroit liaison between concert promoters and the city. I was there to make sure the concerts went off on schedule and to help promoters with any issues I had authority to fix. (I once had to drive to a local music store to secure a synthesizer for the band that backed up Neil Diamond, for instance) . Got to see just about any group in the early 80's that appeared at Cobo, Joe Louis Area, Olympia Stadium, and most of these were with backstage passes. Nice job had these perks...

Oh, and I didn't slight MC5...loved their music - just never saw them perform. "Kick out the jams ..."

Trans Siberian Orchstra last year before Christmas when they came to Little Rock.

If you've never seen them you should! They put Pink Floyd to shame!

I just got back from my most memorable concert. It was at the local university and it was a band that my two daughters just love...they are called "the Click Five". I have been to plenty of concerts in my day, but this was the first for my daughters....their happiness has put this concert at the top of my list. (of course it didn't hurt that I knew all of the songs since the CD is played every time we get in the car)

    Depeche Mode
    Rose Bowl
    Pasadena 1988

I play keyboards and piano for pleasure these days. For a short time I played the cirquit here in Los Angeles. As you can guess I am partial to Keyboard/Synth musicians and bands. Depeche Mode was probably the first MAINSTREAM electronica band and I was and still am a huge fan.

That concert was INCREDIBLE! I was about 20 rows back on the football field in a stadium full of about 80,000 or more fans. PRE SHOW guests included Thomas Dolby, OMD and others.... I remember Dobly pulling off a backflip on stage. Prior to the show there was a MASSIVE SCALE food fight and believe it or not it was FUN. (I got mustard on my New Wave jacket)

Depeche Mode put on the most incredible live show I have ever seen that night and considering they are an electronica band that is pretty amazing. 80,000 people were rocking that night and they even managed to produce a DVD from footage of that concert which I have. Fun to watch it and know.... I WAS there!

I recently saw DMode at the Staples and took my 13 year old son to his first BIG time concert. It blew my son away however, DMode now does not rock like they did at the height of there popularity. Good concert but not up to my expectations.

    Runner Up: Electric Light Orchestra
I have seen them once back in the day with Jeff Lynn and once as "ELO2 aka The Orchestra" and they still blew my mind... Truly remarkable musicians...
