    Default Powerflash transformer help

I replaced the bulbs in the powerflash with the new 12v LED lights and...the lights stopped working.

Assuming I pulled on a wire when fiddling with the rubber grommets, I checked the wiring and then undid it all....and made a huge mess. Fuses are still good, though.

    See attached image.
I have a free yellow and free blue wire - I connected them to both the clear and gray wires and it worked for a second then stopped. The ball tray switch sparked a little on contact and then didn't come unstuck until I unplugged.

So many things wrong here, I know, just want to get these lights back! What am I connecting wrong? Also those LEDs are shot - they don't power up anymore for anything.

Can't say for sure but that transformer does not appear to be a center tap. A center tap transformer will have 3 wires on the output. The 24 volt output should only go to the 2 larger grey wires. If you also connected that output to the clear wires. to fuse block you would blow the 12 volt bulbs.

trasformer looks like multi tap.. depending on what wires you use you can get many voltages..

it my understanding that led bulbs are very picky as to the power you apply to little no work to much poof there out..

    trial and error

hence the reason i have not made the jump to led bulbs..

do you have a multimeter to check the output from the transformer?

i think i see what ive been doing - he yellow wire to either the clear or the gray wires, and the blue wire to the other, not both to both!

i'll see if my studio manager has a multimeter and get that info. otherwise i might shop for a center tap transformer so i know what's what

The clear need a 12 volt supply. The grey a 24 volt supply.
The transformer you have appears to have only 24 vac output.

The output is likely 24vac on the blue and yellow. Best option to use a center tap transformer or separate supply for the clear wires for bulbs. They will need to be replaced. You could also replace bulbs with 24 volt ones and connect yellow to 1 clear and 1 grey, blue to other clear and grey.
For reference, a center tap transformer would have something like 2 blue and 1 yellow. 2 blue for 24 vac and 1 blue with 1 yellow for 12 vac.

On a side note, your transformer shows 40vA (1.66A at 24Vac), this may be a bit light to run both the control board circuit to drive the solenoids and the bulbs.

    Default Powerflash transformer help

I’ve got a Powerflash with 24v led conversion; you have to get the 24v leds (red ones work REALLY good, much brighter than stock) to work on 24v.

I will say LEDs are hit or miss on other machines; I’ve got one one the payout of my Spring Jet with 9v battery; but it only works if you have to polarity the right way. They are finicky.

I can’t get the LED known good bulb to do anything on my Fishing themed model C; no matter what I do with switching the polarity. Incandescent works fine though. I’ll stick with incandescent on this one.

I'm back to this project and I need help.
May I ask someone to point me to the right 24/12 center tap transformer I can purchase (Canada)? I checked Amazon but I'm getting in the weeds.

Once I am able to get one, I'll revisit this thread and see where the wiring goes... and get some 12v LED bulbs

    Thank you
