Default 1973 Nishijin Model B Sausage pachinko restoration

I picked up this cooking sausages themed model B as part of a mandatory 3 pachinko bundle a few months ago (Really just wanted the Marylin Monroe 90’s hanemono included). I was just going to sell it to offset my cost in Marylin and the Mad Monster since it’s kind of a plain Jane “base model” with one tulip, no fancy solenoids or rare center feature, but now I’ve got all these pachinko restoration tools I figure might as well restore this one too as a good winter project!

It already plays really well for having just one tulip; the two pink pockets and the “switches” center feature activates that lone tulip quite frequently though! Just looks like it’s covered in sausage grease from the water stains and some careless previous owner shot a bunch of rusty balls through it!

Plan for this one is to spice up the colors on the playfield to makeup for it’s ho-hum visual appeal currently. Updates to follow!

I’ve learned it definitely goes much faster to disassemble a machine after you’ve done it a couple times! Soon for the fun stages...

Progress continues, old playfield is off. Tomorrow will polish nails, sand, and possibly put on the new improved playfield.

After seeing results on my last machine, I bought a roll of Dura-lar clear protective film for maximum glossiness and protection over the playfield similar to the original Mylar covered paper backgrounds.

Looks like the Dura-lar would be a good idea. How does it attach to the playfield?

It’s pressure activated adhesive, you just peel the backing off and press firmly...same deal as the vinyl playfields. It does take a bit more pressure to make sure you get the bubbles out. It’s optically clear once applied, and isn’t coming off! Gives a nice reflective/glossy sheen to the playfield. Seems tougher than the vinyl too!

Default 1973 Nishijin Model B Sausage pachinko restoration

It’s done! I’ve been growing tired of all the white backgrounds with a few colored graphics and went with something with a little more pizazz for this otherwise plain Jane 1 tulip model B; I think I succeeded! It’s a real eye catcher and something different. I call it the Love machine!

I also built a cheap cabinet with common pine instead of oak to save a few bucks but make it sturdy and easy to move around.

    WOW! Looks great.

I like how colorful it is. It just makes you want to walk up to it and start shooting balls.
