Sankyo is #1 for me! There’s just so many great machines they’ve made over the years; Julie Pinball, Star Wars, Battle of Vader, the Macross series, Lady Gaga, Symphogear, Thunderdragon Z, Ranma 1/2 hanemono, the whole Joy Brain series with Pochies, Magic Carpet, the list goes on and on! Sankyo makes cell swapping very easy and they typically keep the same frame in production several years so your options for cell swapping are very diverse! Perfect for the home collector or anyone with limited space.

Heiwa is a very close second though and closing in on Sankyo fast; in many ways the gameplay/design of theirs is better, cooler, and racier than Sankyo which seems a bit stodgier company by comparison. Not quite as as many titles or cell swapping options, but there’s some very good series: Lupin, Tropical raised, Rio, and I can’t get enough of Miss Love Plus!

Heiwa is king of the hanemonos in my opinion as well; the Tokio series is the best there is; and the Amtex division makes really good retro machines like the Big Shooter series, and I like my Hoo Mini Assistant owl kenrimono a lot too!

Heiwa also understands how an adjustable volume control is supposed to work which is a concept lost on Sankyo! Heiwa gets more creative with the frames and games; Sankyo seems a bit more restrained/conservative.

not gonna lie, drum sea story is amazing

I have Hyper Sea Story, which is a 1/99 version, which is perfect for home use, 4 to 6 round fevers, and it's pirate themed, so some Sea Story are better than others
