Default New to Pachinko Looking for Advice

Hi guys. I am a long time pinball guy looking to get into Pachinko. I know that I would prefer something modern over vintage, but otherwise I have no idea. I found a used machine for sale nearby me, and I thought you guys might be able to tell me if it is something worth considering. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    Edit:
I was not able to upload an image of the machine, so I hope it is OK to link to the Facebook marketplace ad...

Cool artwork; but way overpriced. That’s a $100 machine in my eyes.

If you can afford that price range of several hundred dollars spend a bit more and just get a newer one from a vendor and get a 2014+ model that accepts tons on new cells; like a Sankyo Fortune frame. The newer ones make the 90’s digipachi seem quite primitive! Lots of cell selection so you aren’t stuck with just one!

Awesome, that was the info I was hoping to get. I will look into one of the newer ones, as price is really not a huge factor. Do you have any links to ones you might suggest?

Clover still has some Sankyo Fortune framed Gundam last shooting; I can’t comment on that particular game but there’s tons of good cells that fit you can import via yahoo japan auctions. (Symphogear, Lady Gaga, Macross Frontier 2 and 3, the list goes on and on) The cells sell for around 10,000 yen or so.

Modern pachinko has more desirable titles for a bit more coin; depends on what you like. Both are excellent vendors! Can’t go wrong with Macross:

If you want skill based machines look for a hanemono; there’s several good ones out, vendors usually avoid them some reason?

For a beginner. I would stay away from anything that has a "easy fix" if it was that easy.

A: they would have done it themselves.
B: they normally end up here asking for help.

Parts for modern machines are hard to come by and early modern machines can have shooter motors that fail. With slim chance of getting another. Buy as new as you can. Get a theme you like. If you ca n get the japanese name. Search YouTube videos. Or ask here.

Thanks drunkenclam. Do you happen to know the name of the one I linked to? I would like to see if I can find a video of this one just in case the price comes down to something closer to what it is worth.

I really suggest looking into hanemonos. These machines are easier to understand and have the fun ball tracks. Check out Tokio special or Tokio delux

Agreed, especially for somebody who likes pinball and more skill based gameplay vs the 99% luck based gameplay of digipachi. Tokio Deluxe is my favorite hanemono of my collection and I’ve got over 30 different modern titles, and loads of hanemonos.

Have you played the Sky Racer hanemono yet? I really want one of those cells for my Fortune frame.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. Yeah I live near Bend, thanks for the offer! I’ll probably just end up ordering something online though.

Hi Guys. Its been a while since I have posted here. I never did get a chance to pick up a machine since posting, but I ran across another machine and thought I would post here and see if it is worth looking into. It is a Higurashi machine for $350 plus shipping through Facebook marketplace. Although I would be pretty nervous to have something shipped to me. Otherwise, do you guys know of any good beginner choice local to me? Thanks!

I hope it is OK to link to Facebook.

Well. If you like the anime or visual novel. Its a nice theme.

If you don’t know it. I recommend this video by Mother’s Basement for a good overview.

The theme doesn’t look bad. But the more I think about it, the more I think I would be happier with a hanemonos machine. The trouble is, I don’t think I have ever seen one of those come up locally. Ideally I would want a more modern one of those I would think.
