I used bent nose plyers and a block of 3/4" wood.

Really, I don't know. I was just trying to think of something that I had on hand and was a finer texture, than the white rice.

The rice was the right texture to clean them, but I felt I needed something finer, to get them to shine.

Today, I took apart the back and cleaned everything. All the tracks where the balls travel were dirty.

The jackpot was really dirty. The tracks inside of it were black, from the dirt. You couldn't even see through the clear plastic cover or the one that covers the see-saw. But, all tracks and pieces are clean and shiny now.

Also, did some painting on some of the playfield pieces.

Thought I'd give an update as to where I am on this machine. I'm still waiting for the playfield and stickers to arrive. I was getting concerned that something may of happened to them. Because, I ordered some new rubber and rollers after I ordered the playfield and I got those a couple of days ago. So, I called Rival, at Pachinko Planet and everything is fine. He had to have playfields printed, which delayed the shipping. I should be getting them soon.

So, while I've been waiting, all the pieces for the playfield are repainted and shined up.
Everything is all laid out, ready to go.

I also decided to go with a custom frame and cabinet. I had removed the paint from the frame from the previous owner and stained it. Which wasn't bad, but some of the veneer was completely gone and left dark spots. Maybe that's why they painted the frame.

So, I thought if I'm going to have to paint it, why not make it look custom. I went with a checkerboard pattern around the frame and the bottom part painted white and black.

For the cabinet, I went with red and a white racing stripe. I think it all goes with the theme of the machine. I even had time to make a key chain from a Hot Wheels car.

The new playfield and stickers came today.

I got the playfield put on the board with all the openings cut out and nail holes punched.

    Stickers got put on also.

I got it all put back together today. It was rather time consuming putting all the nails back in and all the other pieces. I did make a "rookie mistake" and didn't put the metal trim plate on first, (that goes down at the lost ball hole), before putting the ball rails on. So, I did have to remove that rail and put it back on. Other than that, everything did go rather smoothly.

I also added some led lights. I believe normally on this machine the only light is the red one in the upper left. It lights when you win and when the hopper is empty.

Down at the area where the flag drops, (through the clear glass), there is a red lens but no light. so, I added one there. When the hopper goes empty, That light now lights as does the one in the upper left.

I basically done the same for the win light, by adding two lights to the, (what looks like a light bar), running down, the right side of the machine.

I also added a led light strip to the top inside of the machine to light up the playfield. I took some low light pictures, so you can see how it lights up the playfield.

Nice, looks like a professional job! Excellent attention to detail! I ordered a short LED strip light yesterday for mine too funny enough! I’m going to put the on the cabinet; with some groovy color changing modes if the mood suits.

There were a few things I wanted to do before moving the machine into the house. I wanted to give the inside of the machine a "cleaner look". Looking inside the machine you see the transformers and a plastic tub to catch the lost balls.

I thought I'd make a cover for the transformers and a custom looking ball catcher.

Here's what I came up with.

    20201019_103426.jpg 20201019_155154.jpg 20201003_175306.jpg 20201019_142452.jpg

It looks a little nicer now, when you open the machine to fill the hopper. Or, just showing the machine to friends.

Very nice detail work. I am amazed at the checkerboard painting you did for the frame. Did you use custom masking?

I wish I was that good at painting, but the checkerboard frame is vinyl, with an adhesive backing.

I use "Lizard Litter" from a pet store. Actually it's crushed walnut shells. Works great to clean the nails and anything else of brass that will fit into the tumbler.
