1972 Nishijin Spring Jet playfield replacement project
I came across a deal too good to pass up on FB marketplace, just picked up this Nishijin Spring jet for $25 that’s in average condition; I figured would make a good father/son restoration project with my 10 year old son since the chrome is still in decent shape, no rust or pitting. I’ve fixed up/refurbished a few other vintages but never tackled a playfield replacement.
The playfield on the other hand is badly faded and water stained which drives me nuts. Full disassembling/cleaning and playfield replacement is in order! The goal is to get it looking as nice this one that Rival did: http://pachinkoplanet.com/zencart/in...roducts_id=108

Luckily this one works good already; just needs a lot of TLC. If anyone has any first time playfield replacement tips, please chime in. I’m trying to come up with a list of all the tools/materials need. Does anyone have a PDF with the playfield replacement steps? (Or a good thread with lots of pics?) I saw one was posted here a few years ago but the link is dead.
Also, anyone know what different artwork for the playfield was available from the factory with these? I like the different background on the one Rival did, haven’t made up my mind which background to choose or just get a exact replacement of this one:
