Nishijin C operation question: what does this rod do
One thing I can't figure out on this machine: what is the rod (circled in green) supposed to do? This is behind the flipper assembly. It's supposed to hook over the clear plastic rod to the left of it but it keeps popping off when I actuate the flipper.
As far as I can tell it only attaches to a flap in the bottom of the jackpot output. But that flap doesn't actually appear to do anything?

That rod deactivates the flipper mechanism when the overflow gets too full. At the other end of the rod, there will, or should, be a lever of some sort that will push the rod in the event the overflow becomes very full with balls. This is an unlikely scenario in home use because most people don't have or use enough balls to make this happen.
