Smile Total NEWB...What do I have here

Hey Everyone! WOW have my eyes been opened. I have made custom MAME and VPIN machines, but these things are awesome! My wife and I picked up this unit that is the exact model her grandparents had when she was a kid. I want to restore this for her, as she has been incredibly patient through my many projects. BUT, first...What do I have here? Thanks in advance for all your expert eyes on this!

I have a similar Mizuho. You're missing the ashtray, the jackpot light, and looks like the track cover above the jackpot mech is missing too. All of these are cosmetic. Looks like maybe you're also missing the front glass. You'll need a piece of safety glass cut for the front door. You can put a piece of acrylic in front of it, or another piece of glass as well. These take two panes.

There are a lot of stuck balls, and you'll have to disassemble the mechanism a bit to get them all out. Luckily these are really easy to take apart as they have some quick release connectors holding the plastic housing.

If you want lights you'll need to wire up a 9v battery. These have a common 3 pin connector hooked up to the lighting, so it's easiest to just buy the connector you need and wire it up. That way you leave it as stock as possible.

Thanks for all the info/feedback! Doesn't sound like too much of a battle, I figured I would be 3D printing some pieces.

Do you happen to know what model and/or name of this particular machine? I want to try and find a decent manual and service docs if possible.

    first off

    Welcome to Pachitalk

your missing a track cover.. your going to need that for the machine to work 100% correctly.. it will opperate with out but not very good..

clear the balls from the back.. make sure you get them all.. these Mizuho brand machines are great machines.. it will clean up fine and should give you years of home use..

    nice looking machine

these older machines dont really have names.. its a model "B" style of machine adn dates from the later half of the 70's..

also your only really need one piece of glass or plexi.. the second piece is there to keep the player form cheating.. so its not really needed for home use.. plexi it ya have little ones playing glass for adults.. (the glass sounds better plexi is safer)

I have a Mizuho machine that I am currently restoring. It's very similar on the back to yours and it has the track cover you are missing. If you want to 3D print it I can send you some detailed photos of the part for your reference.

For some reason I can't upload the files. The interface here is not that great. Maybe my image files are too big. Anyway, here is a link to an album on google photos that has all the pics. let me know if you need more.

BTW the plastic is between 1.8 mm and 2 mm thick.
