The theory is there. With a full length auger it would have less stress then trying to force a whole stack of balls. I don't know how strong the plastic is on these things. If you had time and spare materials. Changing the pitch of the auger would reduce the amount of balls in the lifter but move them up quicker.

You need something to guide the ball away from the gear at the point it leaves the gear and joins the stack of balls. Either using a narrower gear with guides either side, or the way the 'silver' brand orange ball lifters do, and use a duplex gear (a pair of thinner gears spaced apart with a gap in between them) and put an exit guide in the slot between the gears.

I particularly like the duplex gear idea (and used it in my laser cut acrylic ball lifter design many years ago), as if you get the dimensions of the gear right, the balls are not spaced out between the 'teeth' of the gear and remain touching each other, and so the forces from the weight of all the balls stacked in the up-tube are not concentrated on a single tooth of the gear.

I'll have to have a play with the files and see what I can do with the gearing

I quite like your ball lift ideal dave did you ever make another ?

Look at using PETG instead of ABS, might be easier to print.
I've got 2 3d printers, one is an Anet A8, the other was an Anet A8 but I have rebuilt it with extruded AL frame, new controller board and extruder. SOO much quieter now

I haven't printed any Pachi parts, yet, I'm sure I'll find the need eventually

Why not just reverse engineer a orange or silk ball lifter ? Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

I think a machine shop and a metal shop would enjoy the business.

If you have a workshop with a press brake and metal shears or know someone who has a little workshop on property

Sorry, I'm just a Boomer who like to work with big and sometimes dangerous machines (If you don't pay attention to what your doing ), sorry again.
