HELP Sammy Pachinko "Fist of the North Star" 2005 broke

OK So I am new here. Finding resources for these machines is nigh on impossible! ARGH!

So I bought this machine about 2 years ago, and the screen shows garbage, its never worked. Only today I found out its name and year! Look at me and my resourcing. ha. Lazy right?

Anyway, screen looks like it works, but only garbage shows up. rest of the machine works fine, lights etc.

Is there anyone in the UK that sources or sells spare parts, or better yet, repairs them? I really don't have a clue where to start with this machine without a manual. Any help would be really appreciated

thanks for the welcome! If I knew which connections went to it, I would. however I have reseated a lot of cables to make sure.

When you say the rest of the machine works, how far have you tested it. Was this just a power up test, where you just made sure it lights up and nothing else, or did you check any further?

The fault is either that the screen is faulty or not receiving data, or that the display controller board (GPU) is faulty or not sending data, or the main CPU board is faulty or not sending data to the display controller board, so there are a lot of potential problem areas and/or connection problems along the way, and knowing which parts of the rest of the machine are working or not can quickly narrow down where the faults are.

So, is the screen completely static, or does it change in relation to events? (like dropping a ball into the start pocket).

When you drop a ball into the start pocket, do you get the payout along with the normal sound and light display on the machine?

These machines are getting a bit old, and sometimes the connection problems are with the socketed video ROMS on the display board. There are also internal connections between the actual LCD panel and it's PCB that can give problems. There can also be power supply problems that can cause the display controller not to start up properly.

I'm also trying to remember if this machine is in the Sammy "Flash Illusion" frame. Full pictures, front and back might help me jog my memory, and help point to things to check.

The game lights up, I can play, balls play, I get some rewards depending where the balls go. I played it a bit last night fine, just no idea what is happening on the screen and what the d-pad and push button does! Or the two buttons under the play area...

From what you've said, I'd be looking at the ribbon cables with the brown connectors first, but it's only a guess. Knowing whether the sound works, or if the pattern on the screen changes at all might give an idea whether it might be an LCD panel problem, or a CPU/GPU issue, or a power supply problem.

The d-pad and 'push' button will come up in gameplay, it will usually light up or tell you on screen if you need to press it. The two red buttons are for the ball loan system (there is also a 3 digit LED credit display between them).

I was hoping it was the earlier 'Flash Illusion' frame, as I have a little bit of experience repairing that one, but it's the later 'Flash Annin' frame, so is a little different.

I've no idea about the sound on it, no sound at all as far as I am aware but I can't find anywhere for volume?

There is a volume control on the mid back side but it typically is loud, louder and earsplitting.

You might have some volume controls installed by a prior owner. If you have a door key in front then turn it to the left to open the front door with the glass. If no key then you can depress the lever on the back left side above my finger for the same outcome.

With the door open look at the top for a small rotary device near each speaker. If installed then you simply need to turn the dial with a small screwdriver for a desired volume if they aren't burned out. The speakers could also be simply unplugged or wires could have been cut to stop the sound.

If you find it to be too loud then you might want to try these volume controls that can be tucked away near the speakers.
