Default Help with Glass - 2002 Sankyo Fever Wanted

Hello! Long time lurker, first time poster...

I was given a 2002 Sankyo Fever. As of today I have removed the two pieces of lego that were in various parts of the ball channels. Yippee.

BIG QUESTIONS. How to I separate the glass from the blue plastic ring they are embedded in? It seems that there are two pieces of round glass held together in a blue plastic ring. They are filthy on the inside, between the two pieces.

Are they glued in? Does the plastic ring open up or come apart?Glass Full smaller.jpgGlass Closeup smaller.jpg

Thanks so much - this site has been a godsend for working on this machine so far!

Basically. You don't. Its bonded into place. BUT. You could try gently cutting round and through the adhesive with a small sharp blade. Being very careful.

Thanks - any idea if heat, or a solvent, might work? Anyone have any luck with that?

Or drill holes in the plastic between the panes and see if you can inject some cleaner and rinse it out.

Well, snapped one of the pieces of glass. I had been using solvent, was gently prying it up - had about a quarter of it unstuck. Snap! But, on the bright side, I was able to clean the insides through the opening the broken glass gave me. Off to the local Glass Merchant if I can get the rest of the machine to work. No other Lego pieces, but a bunch of hair in one of the feed slots. Hmmm.

BTW it looks like there was some sort of glue or gasket holding the glass in. While I could get it off the edges, getting it loose "underneath" was the problem. I have moved on to some other repairs on the machine, but I will come back and try a heat gun later. If that works, I'll post those results. Can't mess it up anymore, right? I already broke one of the glass pieces!

    In case you are interested.

I had the glass replaced in one just like this a few years back. Glazier said one sheet is laminated and the other is tempered. It was $58 to replace both pieces with regular glass.
    Gotta catch 'em all Pa-chink-o

Thanks! I'm gonna wait until I am sure the until runs correctly. Then I'll redo the glass and build a new outer case for it, too.

Makes sense, as I did wonder what type of glass would be used for these two panels especially with all the balls hitting the inner panel all the time.

In reality, the balls hit the glass very seldom as the games are made to lean back a couple degrees in the parlors.

The two pieces of glass exist to deal with cheaters using magnets. You probably don't need more than one piece of glass if this is for home use.

Thanks for the information about the reason for having two pieces of glass.

I did wonder why you needed to have two.

As my machine has been set up with two side legs to be free standing which are level, these may need to me adjusted to have a slight lean on them, as when I am playing as I have mentioned earlier balls are frequently hitting the glass.

So thanks to all for the information provided
