Why is this site not Secure ? ( A padlock in the top site window)

And now when I check a thread I get a drop down as on top and a ad in the thread .

    Many thanks in advance.

That doesn't have anything to do with ads...
Not Secure is Chrome/Google pushing their agenda of a verified internet.
If a web domain doesn't pay the EXTRA charge every year for certificate
then they won't get shown in search results at some point...

It doesn't have to cost extra. You can get a free certificate from Let's Encrypt and then the 'not secure' warnings go away. Took me about ten minutes to set it up on my own personal website.

I believe that last time this was asked, it was an issue with some of the forum add-ons not supporting encryption, I don't know if this is still the case, but this is the only forum I use that isn't https by default.

Some code type thingies had to be fixed (you can tell I'm good at computers ) but Sid was able to get it sorted!!

If you notice any pages that aren't fully secure just post it here and we can see if there are anymore rogue sheep causing problems!!

As Stuey, has pointed out the issue has been sorted, the delay in implementing has to do with a lot of the old code on the site (add ons etc) which date back to 2004 so wading through 16 years of php files to find the missing s was a bit let's just say nerve racking.

I don't think the problem is completely fixed. I use Google Chrome and it shows this site as NOT SECURE.It's a real hassle to use this site.

If this is just resent, It might be due to the big server problems we are having and having to turn stuff off and on to fix stuff and sometimes stuff gets missed!!

PT is still secure.. I think it's just something not listed where it's supposed to be!!

Sid is working on getting the secure message thing fixed!!

Please report if you find any other problems!!

PTs software has gotten old and has started causing some problems, but it will be getting an upgrade probably by the end of the year!!
