Default Rodeo Ore No Sora No Picture or Sound Problem

    Hi Guys,

    Hope everyone is well.

Spending the extra time at home attempting to fix a 2006 Rodeo Ore No Sora / We Sky, I think in Japanese ロデオ 俺の空

Machine plays ok, but there is no picture or sound. I've stripped the LCD and checked the bad connector that can throw a No Sync problem on the screen, made no difference still shows No Sync on the screen.

I did find hints of liquid damage though, not to the LCD or it's driver PCB but to the PCB at the top of the machine (mounted horizontally above the reels) labeled SM05BGC72...

This has connections for both sound and video, so seemed the most logical place to start fault finding. Seems to be getting power to the board, so PSU is fine.

Can't find a spare one on Yahoo Japan, although I did find a cheap main board, so spares are out there.

Anyone got ant stronger search-fu than me? Or maybe have a spare you'd be willing to sell me?

Any help greatly appreciated, looks like a great machine otherwise.

    Cheers

    Cris

This should have said, above the LCD. There is another PCB above the reels which seems to be working fine.

    Anyone?

Got some bits waiting for me a FromJapan at the moment, so could add spares to the shipment if I could find them.

    Cheers

It seems to be a reoccurring issue with Rodeo. I don't think anyone has over come it without replacing the board. I guess no one got a spare at the moment.

I guess that's the board that both the screen and speakers attach to?

Not sure if you could get a board out of a different machine in the same cabinet and swap the chips. Or might be the chips that are faulty

    Thanks Ian.

I think almost certainly I could swap a board in from another machine and just swap over the ROM chips. I've been searching through generic parts by manufacturer, come across plenty of main boards (ordered one just in case) but not seen a single picture of this board on Google images or Yahoo Japan. Strange. Would have expected to see them going for a good price if it's a common fault.

I think the Sammy parts might be the same from the machines of the same age. Unsure and my searching on that hasn't been very good.

I've recapped the board in question, still the same. The reel and lights side of the board seems to be working perfectly, so that might mean the ROMs are bad I guess.

Might have to end up parting this out, which is a shame as it's a really nice machine otherwise.

    Cheers

I just bought a ORE NO SORA and the Drive 駆動 LED on the power supply is lit. What does that mean?

Not sure, I'll check mine tomorrow and see if it's the same.

    No red light on mine.

I can make 2 suggestions, unplug all cables from PSU and see if you still get the warning light, start your own thread for this problem. This could be a generic problem not specific to this machine.

This is now what I am beginning to suspect.

I have a pretty basic electronics knowledge, but I can replace components and do basic testing ok. From what I can tell the board itself is fine, the screen is fine.

Could be that the mainboard is faulty in some way, I have a replacement coming. But as for the ROM chips on the Sound / Light board I've not been able to find a source for them. But I guess that would make sense if it's a very common fault with these machines. But not to find a single reference on Google etc.. is strange.

    Very frustrating.

    Cheers
