Default need help identifying this part on a sound board

I have a pachislo slot machine with lots of static noise coming in the speakers right after the power is turned on. I did everything and confirmed the problem is on the sound board. I even put it in another machine and disconected the screen and have the same problem as in the other machine. I am not sure what this part is or how to test it but the top looks like it overheated . it also has continuity to the top plug to most of the pins . there is no other noticable damage on the board. this part looks like a cap but iis smaller and only has number on top and not on the side. nuber that is visible are 680 IY ( letters are under the number) Any help would be apreciated . thanks, i am new on this website . board # is SS08BC42 cmk

Difficult to tell without seeing it from side on, but it looks like an inductor. This is basically a coil of wire wound round a ferrite former,

If you measure them with a multimeter, they appear to be a short circuit, more complicated test equipment can measure their value. They very rarely fail, and but if they do they will either go open circuit, or short circuit. You won't be able to measure a short circuit, but when they do go, they will usually overheat and show burn marks on the tape covering the windings.

there seems to be burn marks on the top portion or at least some kind of discoloration . does it look like it may have failed ? worth taking a chance on replacing it ?

Looks normal to me, I don't see any burn marks in the photos.

There will be several component parameters you would have to match up to find a replacement, which would be very difficult without information from the manufacturer. So I'd only consider replacing it if I'd traced the fault down to that specific component.

It is very rare for inductors to fail, and even rarer that they fail without another component having failed first. If it has overheated, then you've probably got other components on the board that have shorted causing the inductor to overheat.
