Default Wedge bulbs #400 vs #85

    Hi Pachi-Peepz,

I need to replace a few of the small wedge bulbs in my Universal machines (Tropicana and Continental II). I have narrowed it down to either the #400 or the #85. Ebay seems to have the best prices, but not sure what the difference is?

My original bulbs read in very very very small print, "A24W 3V."

    Are they interchangeable?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

    Dipsey aka Deb

They are not interchangeable. They are different sizes.

Both bulbs are the same voltage, 28V.

Here are links to both bulbs, you can compare the specs. for the size you need.

    Your welcome.

Due to the manufacturer and age of your machines, the #400 would have been my guess, as to the size you need.

Well I ordered a bunch of the 400 bulbs and two fluorescents for the belly light and over reel light for my Continental II. Prices were better than ebay even considering the shipping charge.

Looking at the wires in the base part of the bulb that was a match vs the 85. I'll report on my success once they arrive and I install them.

Update: The bulbs arrived today and work well. The #400's were an exact match! The belly lights are working well too. Now I just have to figure out why some of the lights aren't working on the continental II (this was an issue prior to getting new bulbs).
