    Talking First Time Pachinko Owner

    Hey guys-
First I want to say thanks for all of the info I have read on this site prior to registering. The little bit of info I have found has been huge in understanding my first machine. I hope that I use the correct terminology when describing my issues! I have a mid-70s Sankyo that seems to be pretty commonplace. I bought it off a guy on Facebook marketplace who didn't know much about it, but wanted it to go to a good home. I promised him I would be in touch in the future to share a finished restoration with him (but is it ever truly finished??). I purchased it for $75 and it has been worth that money in the amount of fun I've had playing and tinkering with it in the last 5 days. I believe the machine is is above-average condition, so I don't feel too daunted in the task of restoring it for display in our basement "casino". I am a residential remodeler by day so I'm not afraid to dig in. I've also restored antique radios in the past, which I only hope doesn't hurt my odds of success. I've always been intrigued by pachinko machines...probably because my grandmother always had a non-working unit on the basement wall which my parents wouldn't let me keep when she passed away (I was already a sucker for thrift store electronics so my parents didn't want me hoarding a bunch of junk I didn't need). Now that I'm all grow'd up I can buy as much junk as I want!

**I'm having trouble loading photos- I've tried uploading .jpg files on both Chrome and Edge, but they both give me an error message when trying to upload.**

Some questions/talking points with the machine:

-The machine needs a good cleaning, but looks great overall. The playing fields graphics look sharp and don't seem faded. Despite the few problems I've found, the machine is able to play normally for at least a little while.

-My main problem is that the part that keeps tension on the supply ball chute is missing the spring and the metal piece is bent back and fastened under one of the plastic screw studs. This seems to be causing the balls to clog up around the bend in the chute. I can't put many balls in the machine without the balls stacking up and becoming clogged. The amount of balls I am able to safely use yields me about 3 jackpots before I need to add more. I've tried to locate these parts but have come up empty. I'm not 100% sure this is causing the problem, but its definitely the first place I'm starting. The shiny screws tell me that this was a recent hack attempt. This is my main concern with the machine, so any tips would be appreciated!!

-The far right tulip is iffy with getting clogged. I can drop a few balls in and about half of them end up clogging up. This is something that will probably be solved by a good cleaning, so I'm not too worried right now.

-The glass needs replaced, which I'll do last. I'm not sure what type to get, though. My understanding is that some have plexi on the inside and plate glass on the outside. Both are readily available but I'm not sure what's recommended. Also, what is the thickness of the glass?

-After the machine is thoroughly cleaned, what type of lubricant should be used on all moving parts? Do areas coming in contact with balls need lubed as well?

Thanks to this great community for the help! I look forward to posting progress pics (and more questions) in the future!
