Default Newbie In Search of Direction

    Hi All,
I joined upon discovering the forum in my Google search results for pachinko repair. I have questions but I'm so green I don't even know what to call the thing-a-ma-jig that I'm looking for help on. I've scanned the forum for a "Start Here" section but I didn't see it. Can someone point me to a detailed diagram of the back of your average pachinko so I can write intelligibly about the part I'm needing help with?

Thanks in advance. I hope I will be able to pay it forward some time in the future. I'm glad this forum exists.

The only dumb question is the one that isn't asked.

If in doubt try to give as much detail as possible. and include a picture (less than 2MB)

Average ? thats a bit vage. Make and age would help to limit it down.

Thanks for your patience will I am trying to get the hang of posting pictures. I've figured out the machine is a Sankyo. It has "Azuma" written on the ashtray. I can't find anything that looks like a date on it and I'm not sure what qualifies as "vintage". The pic on the left is obviously the machine. The pic on the right is piece that is broken. I think it is part of the "ball drop" but . Any guidance is appreciated.

It's a Vintage with a metal front top tray. Did that piece (thingamajig) come from the back of the machine or the front ball feed ?

To open the front door of the top metal tray have the front of the machine face you and in the back on the right side should be a lever vertical bar and pull up on it . That should open the front play field Door then on the metal tray section should have a piece of metal that looks like a button and push it down and that should open the front ball feed area.

It came from the back of the machine. After a lot of searching I think it also might be called a "jackpot mechanism". It kinda looked like this jackpot mechanism.jpgwhen it was put together. [Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place. I'll be happy to move the conversation to the appropriate location.]

    Thanks again.

Hummm ,that piece has metal parts cast into it . You could get some J B Weld and follow the instructions and then gently clean the part . Apply the j b weld to the missing plastic areas , wait for full curing of the j b weld then file and sand the part to fit without binding .

Good luck and enjoy the craft !!

you are right it is form the jackpot mech.. as you pictured it..

can you post pics of your jackpot mech.. posting pics of other bits and pieces can sometimes be confusing...

that piece should have a metal dish that captures the balls and holds them in the jackpot.. do you have that piece?? (fabricating that piece from jb weld would be impossible if it is missing)

    more pictures please..

Yeah, do you have that shiny crescent moon metal piece like in you stock jackpot photos ?

And of course the metal fasteners that are shown in the stock photos that you have posted here.

Thanks all for the confirmation. I have the whole jackpot mechanism. cracks.jpg If you look closely at the picture, the blue plastic piece (lever?) that is screwed down to the crescent metal piece is broken into many pieces (at the bottom). Gluing (Gorilla Glue) the pieces does not seem to hold that lever section together. I've looked online for another Sankyo lever, however I've been unable to locate one. My next thought was to fabricate a thin metal plate for reinforcement and glue the broken lever sections to the plate. I'm hoping that would provide enough backbone/structure to withstand the force of the actuation. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks again.

Which Gorilla glue? Cyanoacrylate ("Krazy Glue") I'm not a fan of their cyanoacrylate. Try JB Weld and glop it over the back bridging the metal plate across the blue plastic. It doesn't need to be pretty.

Or keep scouring ebay--parts like that do show up there.

5 min epoxy is the best product i have found...

does not have to be this brand but i have had great luck with it

    https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Epoxy...39463388&psc=1

take your time.. this is one piece that i have put together wrong and it just wont work quite right.. in my opinion this is probably the most fickle part on a vintage pachinko..

I got (rescued) this machine The former owner silver spray painted the chrome in front . Luckily it isn't the first time that I had to gently clean a sprayed up machine . I might do a restoration thread on this cool Vintage machine.
