Default A cabinet for the Powerflash

My Powerflash has sadly been lying around collecting dust the past year or so, didn’t have a nice cabinet to display it, and it got stuck in a corner out of sight and out of mind. Decided I should make a basic box cabinet design with a French cleat wall mount. I tried to match the cool yellowish stain on the original Powerflash machine and it turned out pretty decent if I do say so myself! I bought an inexpensive LED picture light and it really sets it off and let’s you see the playfield better, definitely recommend adding a light on a vintage machine cabinet particularly with the darker playfield like this, or if you have bad vision like me. It’s now getting played much more often! Total cost (1x8s, screws, stain/polyurethane, brush, wood putty, sandpaper, led picture light) $75ish

Very nice. Brings back a lot of memories of the stands Moparformances made for mine. Really like the addition of the light.

Default A cabinet for the Powerflash

Bigdog asked for the plans/diagrams so I sketched down the basics and figured I’d just post here for anyone else. It’s pretty easy to make; the only tricky part is cutting the 45 degree angle cut for the French cleat boards (and cutting straight) but it’s worth it because it’s very strong and easy to remove the machine if needed (or swap them out as you please)

    Tools need:
    Power drill/screwdriver
    Circular saw
1 1/2 hole saw bit (for opening the pachinko door)
Good circular saw blade for cutting trim (high teeth count to give a nice clean cut)
    90 degree saw jig (recommended)

    Supplies:
1x8” boards (I bought decent mid-grade pine ones with better grain, depends on how much you want to spend/how fancy you want to get.)
1 1/4 length wood (or drywall screws)
    Sandpaper
    Wood putty
    Stain/paint of your choice
    LED Picture light (optional)

nice basic unit the only thing i do different is make the bottom wider so it sticks out the front 3 or 4 inches for table top stability.. (A place to put my Beer)

the one thing i would recommend is measuring your specific machine as there is a little variance between brands.. as i remember it can be up to 1/2 inch..
