    Default Almost Completed Daiichi

I have a Daiichi New Vanguard (Hi-Deluxe/Melaster) and I'm loving it. I don't know much at all about these things, but rebuilt it and it works great.

Could somebody tell me how to figure out the year? I believe its 1970s. Also, what kind of power source is it? The screw in bulbs are burnt out. Where can I get new bulbs? I could also use a few more balls. Where would be a good place to pick some up from. I'm in Hawkesbury, On. Canada

I would love to post some pictures, but I suck at computers and my jpegs are averaging 2,200KB and I don't know how to resize them. Genetically I am a pinball guy and stuck in the Solid State world.

Tolerance and help would be appreciated. Thanks

If it's a vintage machine with no other electronics besides the lights, I'd try hooking up a 9V battery or small wall wart transformer. There are usually two terminals to which it can be attached. There is typically also a fuse you may want to check. I'm not sure myself where to get bulbs or what type they are. I am likely going to convert mine over to 6V pinball LEDs to keep things simple. The conversion looks trivial. I've been lucky so far and the bulbs in mine have been good.

For balls, I like Clover Collectibles: https://clovercollectables.com/produ...inko-balls-500

As for photos, I just right-click them in Windows and edit them with Paint. Then use the resize function and set them to 50% of original size and save them. That usually does it.

Enjoy! Watch out though, they spawn like pinball machines :-)

I washed all my plastics in the kitchen sink. The last things I need to do is clean the playfield and sort out my lights. Is Daiichi a good name? I mostly see Nishijin everywhere?

Daiichi has been around a long time. They still make machines today, I believe, and they make the modern battle counters as well. Seems like a good company to me.

Be careful cleaning the playfield as they can water stain easily. I use some brass polish to brighten the nail heads but I don’t polish the shafts for fear of getting the stuff on the playfield.

    Hello and welcome.

Factory bulbs are 10 volt. I use replacement 12 volt from Newark, W577-5, and 9 volt power supply.
Daiichi has the laminate type backgrounds so no worry about water staining. Careful though if you want to pull the nails for polishing as the backgrounds tend to chip.

Your tax sticker is dated 50 - 12. This would date the machine about 1974.

In picture 3 (back of machine) there are some parts missing. Maybe you are cleaning the parts?
Does it work? There is a ball jam in the see saw area.

    Smile Daiichi Pictures

That is a very good model, vintage machine, in my opinion, because it rarely has water stains on the playfield.

Here are some pictures of a similar, Daiichi machine I fixed up...
